State Republican Party membership saw an unusually large dip in the months following the January 6th US Capitol attack. Based on research by the LSU Manship School Statehouse Bureau 7,800 unregistered from the party, a party that has seen major growth over the last decade. LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan says while these voters might be frustrated, unregistering from a party doesn’t change much given Louisiana’s jungle primary system.
A teacher’s union is filing a lawsuit against the Caddo Parish school board claiming its attendance bonus for educators discriminates against teachers who took maternity leave, are disabled or elderly. Red River United Vice President Jordan Thomas says teachers have done everything that has been asked and announcing the bonus criteria now isn’t fair.

LSU’s associate athletic director of football recruiting, Sharon Lewis, tells USA Today she will file several lawsuits against the school, claiming she was mistreated for trying to stop sexual harassment. The Husch Blackwell report resulted in two athletic officials receiving a multi-week suspension.
