The Pelicans’ four-game winning streak ended last night as Chicago set a franchise record for three-pointers made with 25 as the Bulls beat New Orleans 129 to 116. Zach Lavine had 46 points and as he made nine threes. His backcourt made Coby White hit eight three-pointers and finished with 30 points. New Orleans has allowed 18 or more three-pointers in a game eight times this season.
LSU shot 61-percent from the field and defeated Mississippi State 94-80 in Starkville last night. Cam Thomas had 25 points and Javonte Smart added 22 points as he was eight of ten from the field. The Tigers host 16th ranked Tennessee on Saturday.
In the Southland, Nicholls defeated Lamar 76-71, Northwestern State knocked Incarnate World 68-67 and Sam Houston defeated Southeastern Louisiana 79-61.
LSU football needs linebackers and they got one through the transfer portal. Mike Jones Junior becomes the 24th member of the Tigers 2021 recruiting class. Jones started seven games at Clemson last season and had 52 tackles, eight tackles for a loss and a couple of interceptions.
In college basketball tonight, the Ragin Cajuns host in-state rival ULM in Lafayette. The Warhawks are 2-and-10 in the Sun Belt, while U-L Lafayette is 7-and-5 and in second place in the Sun Belt West after dropping two games last weekend to Arkansas State who has a losing record.
