Louisiana has hired a firm to build a 14-million dollar coastal research center at Nicholls State University. Thibodaux-based Duplantis Design Group will design the center that will study the effects of land loss in the Terrebonne and Atchafalaya Basins. Nicholls President Jay Clune says when the school was founded in 1948, the university was 50 miles from the Gulf Coast and now it’s 24 miles away.
