In a rare Tuesday night game, Louisiana Tech fell to Middle Tennessee 31-23 in Conference USA action. The Bulldogs are now 3-5 on the season and 2-2 on conference play. They’ll be back in action on Tuesday, October 24th hosting New Mexico State in another nationally televised game.

LSU is set to take on Auburn this Saturday in Death Valley. The Purple and Gold have one of the best offenses in college football, but it’s not just Jayden Daniels and the passing game. The Gonzales Police Department is seeking information on a Sunday night shooting at a park in Ascension Parish that left several hurt and led to a fatal car crash as people were fleeing the area. They say at least 4 people sustained gunshot wounds in the incident, and a vehicle trying to escape crashed leaving two hurt and a woman dead. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the authorities.

State Police say a Covington man is dead following a suspected drunk driver crash in St. Tammany Parish. They say 46-year-old Kimberly Dufrene of Covington was making a turn when she traveled into the opposite lane of traffic and hit a motorcycle driven by 67-year-old Douglas Jenkins. Jenkins succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. Dufrene was booked for vehicular homicide and 2nd offense DWI.

Efforts are underway to bring a black bear hunting season to Louisiana. A vote will likely take place at The Louisiana Wildlife Commission’s November meeting. After being on the endangered species list, State Wildlife says today the black bear population here is just over 12 hundred. Commission member Joe McPherson says lawmakers sponsored legislation to bring black bear hunting back…:

He says if the commission chooses to bring black bear hunting season back it wouldn’t be until the 2024-2025 season.

Louisiana Tech will face Conference USA opponent Middle Tennessee tonight on the road at 6pm in a game that will be nationally televised on CBS. The Bulldogs are 3-4 and 2-1 in conference play.

State Police say a Holden man who was driving a tractor in Livingston Parish when he was hit by a car Sunday has died. They say Tracy Gauthier was operating the farm equipment on LA 441 when it was hit from behind by a Chevrolet Malibu. Gauthier was taken to a hospital where he later died. The driver of the Malibu was treated for moderate injuries. Troopers did not say if any tickets were given.

Due to the dry conditions, rats have been making their way into homes and buildings looking for food and water. LSU Ag Center Professor emeritus Dr. Claudette Reichel (Rye-cul) says watch for rodents if you’ve got bad allergies…:

A Central Louisiana woman has been arrested amid allegations she started the wildfire fire in Rapides Parish that spread into Vernon Parish. 49-year-old Laura McLaughlin of Pitkin was booked on four counts of simple arson and one count of obstruction of justice. Meanwhile, Alvin Kamara’s three-game suspension has ended, and the New Orleans running back took to X, formerly Twitter, to share his excitement. Kamara posted a hilarious video of his head photoshopped on someone happily leaving prison with the caption, “home free.”

The Saints host Tampa Bay this Sunday at Noon. The Bucs fell to the Eagles last night 25-11.

LSU ranks towards the bottom in several SEC defensive categories after four games. They are allowing 25 points a contest and 360 yards a game, which ranks 11th out of 14 teams. The Tigers will face Ole Miss in Oxford Saturday at 5pm. Game time was announced for LSU’s game next weekend at Missouri. The fan favorite 11am kickoff.

Joe Burrow still hobbled around the field and was far from his best, but the former LSU Quarterback helped lead his Bengals to a 19-16 win over the Rams last night. Burrow has been dealing with a calf strain since the start of the season.
