LSU added two left handed pitchers to next year’s staff in the transfer portal yesterday. Tennessee freshman Ryler Smart redshirted his lone season in Knoxville recovering from Tommy John surgery. Smart was a top 200 recruit out of Pearland Texas. North Dakota State freshman Danny Lachenmayer totaled a 2.37 ERA in 24 appearances with nine saves for the Bison. He struck out 56 and allowed 25 hits in 38 innings.

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame is inducting their 2025 class tomorrow in Natchitoches. 2003 LSU football national champion winning coach Nick Saban and offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth headline the class. Also being inducted is the winningest college baseball coach in Louisiana history Delgado’s Joe Scheuermann.

The Pelicans wrapped up their first draft under new President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars yesterday. New Orleans selected Georgetown wing Micah Peavy with the 40th overall pick acquired from the Wizards in the Jordan Poole trade. The 23-year-old averaged 17 points per game last season shooting 40% from three with the Hoyas. The super senior also added over 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals a game. Peavy told ESPN he’s one of the best defenders in this year’s draft…

Peavy rounds out an aggressive draft class from the Pelicans featuring Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears and Maryland center Derik Queen who were picked 7th and 13th overall Wednesday.

LSU pitcher Kade Anderson was named the 2025 Pitcher of the Year by Baseball America. Anderson commanded the mound for the Tigers this season with a nation-leading 180 strikeouts in 119 innings. The sophomore finished the season with a 12-and-1 record and 3.18 ERA. He’ll have a chance to go number one overall in the MLB Draft July 13.
