The Saints are on a late-season surge with three straight wins after Sunday’s 29-6 dismantling of the Jets. Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough has been at the center of the turnaround. He’s eclipsed almost every Saints rookie passing record and led the team to a 4-and-3 record. He says success now can lay the foundation for next year.
The Saints are one of three teams without a Pro Bowl selection this year, along with the Jets and Vikings. The bayou state is still represented by former LSU Tigers Ja’Marr Chase and Derek Stingley Jr., who were both named starters for the AFC.
LSU head coach Lane Kiffin’s son Knox announced he will enroll at U-High in January. The class of 2028 quarterback led Oxford High School to the Mississippi Class 7A semifinals this season and threw for over 12-hundred yards and 14 touchdowns in just six starts. The Cubs posted a 10-and-3 record this season and fell to eventual state champions St. Charles Catholic in the D-2 Select semifinals.
LSU forward Grace Knox was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after leading the Lady Tigers in scoring against Morgan State and Texas-Arlington. Knox averaged 17-and-a-half points and nine-and-a-half rebounds over the two games as LSU improved to 13-and-0. She is the first Lady Tiger to receive the award since Mikaylah Williams in the 2023-24 season.
Ole Miss and Georgia are headed for a playoff rematch in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day in New Orleans. The Bulldogs offense dominated the regular season contest between the teams, and Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding says there’s no room for error against the SEC champs.
