Four people are arrested in a shooting during a Mardi Gras parade in East Feliciana Parish Saturday, in which six people were injured. Sheriff Jeff Travis says no one was killed, but many lives have been changed.

Among those arrested is a 15-year-old boy who’s being charged as an adult. Sheriff Travis says more arrests are likely.

Five people are arrested following a joint investigation into child exploitation by State Police, the Covington Police Department and the FBI. Trooper Marc Gremillion says State Police arrested two of the five – 26-year-old Kevin Pierre of Folsom and 44-year-old Mayfield Lee of Metairie.

Entergy crews made significant progress in northeast Louisiana over the weekend. The company says it has now restored power to 90-percent of customers affected by last week’s ice storm, accounting for more than 118-thousand customers. Nyka (NIGH-kah) Scott, the vice president of customer service at Entergy, says this is just one component to the recovery process.

LSU’s new starting third baseman Trent Caraway is a West Coast kid. He’s from Southern California and was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year in 2023 after nearly hitting 500 at the plate. Caraway signed out of high school at Oregon State and played two seasons for the Beavers. He entered the transfer portal and quickly hit it off with LSU coach Jay Johnson who also recruited him out of high school…

With the game in France, that means the Saints will play eight regular-season games in the Dome next season, instead of nine. The Saints announce this will mean a 10-percent reduction in ticket prices for season ticket holders.

The UL-Lafayette Athletics Department’s deficit has increased by more than $600,000 since last year, a review by the state Legislative Auditor shows. The review of procedures, which is done annually to comply with NCAA rules, shows an operating deficit of $13. 2 million compared to $12.6 million in last year’s report.

Vice President of Customer Service Nyka Scott says many of those still in the dark are in areas which are not easily accessible.

Liggins is facing an attempted murder charge to go along with the reckless discharge of a firearm and obstruction charges. Travis says authorities have also arrested 25-year-old Phillip Williams. He’s one of four people facing charges in connection with the shooting in Clinton that Travis says was gang-related…

State Police reports the eight inmates that escaped from the Lake Providence Detention Center late last week are back in custody and are now in a jail cell at Angola. Three of the escapees were accused of murder in East Baton Rouge Parish. No word yet from the East Carroll Parish Sheriff on how they escaped.

A Lake Charles man was arrested for the rape of a minor. 20-year-old Jayvon B. White is charged with second degree rape. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit detectives say the attack happened on Sunday. Investigators says Injuries found on the victim were consistent with the forcible rape. White is being held at the Calcasieu Parish jail on a $150,000 bond.

There is a big college basketball game in Nacogdoches, Texas tonight as McNeese visits Stephen F Austin. The Lumberjacks have a one game lead over the Cowboys for first place in the Southland. The Pokes beat S-F-A by two points in Lake Charles on January 5th.

LSU’s new starting third baseman Trent Caraway has dreams of playing in the Major Leagues, but he’s excited for the opportunity to play in the Purple and Gold. Caraway is expected to hit for a high average and double-digit home runs for the Tigers. Last season at Oregon State he hit .267 with 12 home runs, half of those home runs came in the NCAA Tournament. The other three were arrested by the Covington Police Department. All face charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile, computer aided solicitation of a minor, and attempted carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

No more inspection stickers for private passenger vehicles? That’s the goal of Stonewall State Representative Larry Bagley. He plans to file a bill to get rid of them and says they serve no safety purpose. He says officers have scores of modern technologies that tell them what they need to know. This is not the first time Bagley has filed this bill.
