Louisiana’s Largest ever marsh creation project is complete. The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority celebrated the completion of the over 3000-acre Lake Borgne Marsh project in St. Bernard Parish with a ribbon cutting yesterday. Governor Landry called it a victory in the effort to protect Louisiana’s coast. The project which began in 2021 reinforces the Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System around the Greater New Orleans area.

Entergy Louisiana broke ground this week on two new power plants in Rayville that will support Meta’s A-I data center. Entergy says Meta is paying for the state-of-the-art generation facilities, but environmental groups have raised concerns that the data centers will lead to higher energy costs for everyone. Louisiana Senate President Cameron Henry says that’s what they want to find out with a new task force has begun meeting to make sure Louisiana has enough power to provide electricity for everyone.

The three-day early signing period when Louisiana’s best high school football players sign with colleges begins today. LSU’s first signee of the day was Destrehan receiver Jabari Mack. Lee Brecheen of Louisiana Football Magazine says Mack reminds him of former LSU star Ja’Marr Chase…

The nation’s number one defensive tackle Richard Anderson from Edna Karr is holding off on signing at LSU but remains committed. He is reportedly waiting to see who Lane Kiffin will name as his new defensive line coach.

As part of Operation Swamp Sweep, the Department of Homeland Security is launching what it calls Operation Catahoula Crunch. This operation is targeting specific undocumented aliens with violent crime arrests who had been released by police departments who it says have refused to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Once arrested, those people could be sent to the so-called “Louisiana Lockup” in Angola, which Governor Landry said would be used specifically for these people.

A new task force has begun meeting to make sure Louisiana has enough power to provide electricity for everyone, with a massive data center under construction in Richland Parish. Senate President Cameron Henry says the task force will produce its findings by March 1st.

The number of homeowners insured by Citizens Insurance, the state’s insurer of last resort, remains near its 20-year peak. As of the end of last month, Citizens accounted for more than 122-thousand policies. Ben Albright, the president and CEO of the Independent Agents and Brokers Association of Louisiana, says in some areas, the only option besides Citizens are smaller insurance companies.

Louisiana’s best high school football players are signing with colleges today as a three-day early signing period began today. Lafayette Christian Academy star Brayden Allen was one of LSU’s first signees. Lee Brecheen of Louisiana Football Magazine says the Tigers are getting a good one in Allen

According to the latest data, the number of households and businesses that have Citizens Insurance, the state’s insurer of last restort is 122-thousand, which is not too far off from the peak, which was 172-thousand Citizens policies in 2008. Ben Albright, president of the Independent Agents and Brokers Association of Louisiana, says insurance reforms to help homeowners in south Louisiana get private insurance are showing positive returns, but it will take time…

Immigration enforcement operations began in New Orleans today. The Department of Homeland Security is calling the operation “Catahoula Crunch” and the federal agency says the goal is to arrest undocumented immigrants accused of violent crimes released under sanctuary policies.

New Orleans Mayor-elect Helena Moreno has selected her City Council colleague and current Budget Chair, Joe Giarrusso, to serve as New Orleans’ next Chief Administrative Officer.   As CAO, Giarrusso will oversee the city’s day-to-day operations, manage city services, and supervise how New Orleans spends its money.

Ben Albright, the president and CEO of the Independent Agents and Brokers Association of Louisiana  says that’s due in large part to the legislature’s suspension of a ten percent surcharge on Citizens Insurance.

LSU football coach Lane Kiffin announced today that he will allow the Tigers new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. to return to Ole Miss to call plays for the Rebels in the team’s playoff run. Weis took a plane with Kiffin to Baton Rouge on Sunday and was signed to a three year deal worth 1.9 million dollars annually on Monday.

That’s Entergy Louisiana’s Laura Beachman who says Meta is paying for the state-of-the-art generation facilities. But environmental advocacy and oil, gas and petrochemical groups remain concerned that the two new plants will result in higher bills for all customers.

Senate President Cameron Henry says a task force is meeting to see if Louisiana has enough power for the Meta Data center and others that are expected to built and to make sure residents are not seeing higher bills because of it…

LSU new head coach Lane Kiffin’s contract is seven years, worth 90-million dollars plus. But Kiffin says his personal wealth was not in consideration when taking the LSU job. He says he was mainly concerned about enough NIL funding to help attract the best players. Athletics director Verge Ausberry says the LSU fan base has stepped up…

Kiffin will be focused on signing a recruiting class this week, as a three-day early signing period begins tomorrow. Kiffin, who declared himself the “Portal King” at Ole Miss for his ability to sign players out of the transfer portal, says LSU is committed to financially supporting his rosters each year.

LSU four-star wide receiver Kenny Darby and three-star offensive lineman Jalan Chapman have decommitted from LSU today.

Lane Kiffin has landed his first commitment as the LSU head coach as 6-6 and 240-pound four-star tight end JC Anderson has flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to LSU. Anderson is rated as the No. 11 tight end in the nation according to 247Sports.

After being hired by LSU yesterday, Ole Miss has announced that offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. is going to coach the Rebels during the team’s playoff run. Weis took a plane with Kiffin to Baton Rouge on Sunday and was signed to a three year deal worth 1.9 million dollars annually on Monday.

After missing the 2024 season with a season-ending ACL injury, LSU forward Jalen Reed will miss the rest of the 2025 basketball season after tearing his left Achilles in the 71-62 win against Drake on Friday.

Flecther Mackel with WDSU TV in New Orleans is reporting that Ed Orgeron is a serious candidate for the Tulane head coaching job and that he is making a strong push for the job.
