The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and Ascension Parish have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that puts Ascension Parish in charge of cleaning up a closed aluminum plant in Sorrento that’s allowing red dust to fly through the air on windy days. The Humane Society of Louisiana says 26 dogs had to be rehomed after Bienville Parish Sheriff’s deputies charged two people in Jamestown with 32 counts of cruelty to animals. H-S-L Director Jeff Dorson says the Bissell Foundation accepted custody of the dogs and moved them to their headquarters in Michigan. Dorson says it’s a shame something like this happened…

The Louisiana Department of Health is still telling residents in Madison Parish not to drink the tap water if it comes from the Walnut Bayou Water System. The drinking water was exposed to a toxic herbicide primarily used for weed control. The do not use water advisory was issued last week and residents should continue to avoid using the water until all testing results are clear.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has ruled the death of an infant left in the backseat of a car last month as an accident. The child was in the vehicle for the entire day. The parent told deputies they planned to drop the toddler off at daycare and didn’t realize the child was in the vehicle until the parent went to the day care facility to pick up the child.

15-hundred AT&T workers in Louisiana are on strike accusing the company of unfair labor practices during contract negotiations. They are among the more than 17-thousand AT-and-T workers in nine states that have walked off the job. AT-and-T and the Communications Workers of America have been trying since June to reach a new labor agreement. AT-and-T denies the union’s accusations.

43-year-old Anthony Hughes is recovering after getting shot at a spirit event near Bossier High School’s football stadium last night. Hughes got into a fight in the parking lot and was involved in a car crash after being shot by 32-year-old Markus Kelly. Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt. Matt Gaydos says this is highly unusual for Bossier and they want to make sure nothing like this happens again…

A judge has set a bond of one-million dollars for 32-year-old Hannah Cormier of Jennings after she was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly leaving her 10-month-old daughter in a car for two hours while she worked a shift at Wendy’s. Authorities believe the child died of heat exposure, as the heat index rose above 106 degrees and Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes says the inside of the vehicle felt like 140 degrees…

Matt Gaydos says Hughes got into an altercation with some juveniles during the event, leading to a fight in the parking lot. Gaydos says 32-year-old Marcus Kelly shot Hughes and then the two were involved in a car crash…

32-year-old Hannah Cormier of Jennings received a one-million-dollar bond after she was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly leaving her 10-month-old daughter in a car for two hours while she worked a shift at Wendy’s. Authorities say the mother claimed to have forgotten her child in the car, but given the situation, she was taken into custody. The charge of second-degree murder indicates there is intent. Landry says when it comes to the state’s tax code, there’s too much of a benefit for special interests. He says when it comes to revamping the state department of transportation, he wants to remove the bureaucracy that’s in place, which he says is holding the state agency back…

Another LSU team is competing for a national championship. LSU-Shreveport’s Fishing Team is heading to the Bassmaster College Series 2024 National Championship in South Carolina. The team broke a record with five boats qualifying for a two-day event that starts Thursday.
