Lafourche Parish deputies arrested 19-year-old Tyaliah Adams for possessing a gun in the parking lot of the Thibodaux High School football stadium. Adams allegedly brandished the firearm during an altercation between two males. Authorities say when she showed the gun, everyone fled the scene.

During a speech in front of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Governor Jeff Landry touted the passage of a bill that allows prosecutors to charge a 17-year-old as an adult when a serious crime was committed. Landry believes this legislation will address the rising levels of violent crime among teens…

A St. Tammany Parish judge has sentenced a Virginia woman to 35-years in prison as a result of a traffic stop on I-12 that resulted in sheriff deputies discovering four Fruity Pepples cereal boxes filled with nearly eight-thousand methamphetamine pills. Prosecutors say 32-year-old Precious Hicks was convicted on drug trafficking charges and she has a lengthy criminal history.

Kids and Car Safety Director Amber Rollins recommends creating a visual reminder for when your child is in the car with you, which can break a parent out of autopilot. She suggests keeping a large stuffed animal in the back seat…

Ground has been broken on the long awaited Jimmie Davis Bridge Replacement project in south Bossier City and Shreveport. The new bridge will have two more lanes, a median, and three spaces for U-turns; and the old bridge will be converted into a walking bridge. The project will also see LA-511 widened near the bridge to accommodate the extra lanes. DOTD Secretary Joe Donahue says this project is more than just a bridge…

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s has arrested a Pitkin woman for murder after she allegedly killed her husband. Deputies say 53-year-old Melissa Ann Sweat called authorities and they responded to a home in Pitkin and found 61-year-old Rodney Sweat dead. Melissa Ann Sweat was taken into custody. No details on what led to the shooting.

Bienville Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people in Jamestown and removed 33 dogs from poor living in poor conditions. 32-year-old Tanya Michelle Griffith and 29-year-old Allen Tyler Meylian face 32 counts of cruelty to Animals. Humane Society of Louisiana Director, Jeff Dorson says since Bienville Parish has no Animal Control Department, animal rescue is up to the Sheriff’s office…

LDH is continuing a “do not use” water advisory for areas served by the Walnut Bayou Water System in Madison Parish after drinking water was exposed to the chemical paraquat last week.
