Authorities say the deceased victims of two fatal shootings on the campus of Grambling University that occurred Sunday and Wednesday during Homecoming week were not students. Louisiana State Police has issued an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Jatavious “Rabbit” Carroll of Delhi in connection with the Wednesday shooting and Trooper Michael Reichardt says they continue to investigate Sunday’s incident.

AARP has a new website tool up and running that is there to assist veterans to access health care in the state.  Troy Broussard with AARP-Louisiana says of the more than 300 thousand vets in the state only a fraction have used their VA health care benefits.

It’s the second shooting fatality in a matter of days on the campus, prompting a decision to cancel classes today and tomorrow and enforce a curfew. University President Rick Gallot says student safety is their priority.

A Sunday morning crash in Union Parish claims the life of a Spearsville woman. State Police says 74-year-old Rosemary Smith was killed when her car collided with a minivan at the intersection of LA Highway 550 and Highway 15. The vehicle she was driving caught fire and a passenger in the car was taken to a local hospital along with two passengers in the minivan. The crash remains under investigation.

Two seasons ago, LSU’s Ed Orgeron was on top of the college football world and now he has just five games left, and maybe a bowl game, before he’s no longer the coach at LSU. The school and Coach O have decided to part ways after the 2021 season. The Tigers have won nine games and lost eight since winning the national title. There’s been another fatal shooting on Grambling State’s campus. The latest one happened Sunday morning. State Police say one person was killed and seven wounded. There was another fatal shooting on campus last Wednesday and authorities have yet to make an arrest in either case. Classes are canceled for today and tomorrow on Grambling’s campus.

Classes at Grambling State are canceled today and tomorrow as a result of another fatal shooting on campus. Officials say one person was killed and seven others injured early Sunday morning in the second deadly shooting on Grambling’s campus within a four-day period. The person who was fatally shot Sunday was not a student and authorities have yet to make an arrest in either shooting.

LSU and Football Coach Ed Orgeron have agreed to part ways and this will be Orgeron’s final season as head coach of the Tigers. Since the national championship season, the Tigers have nine wins and eight losses. LSU athletics director Scott Woodward says it was time for a new direction…

State Farm the state’s largest insurance carrier refuses to follow Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon’s directive to cover temporary living expenses for policyholders who evacuated due to Ida, regardless of whether parish leaders issued mandatory evacuation orders. State Farm is arguing Donelon overstepped his legal authority.

A week after Lafayette’s Police Chief Thomas Glover was fired, he called in on Mayor Josh Guillory’s weekly radio show on KPEL accusing the mayor of firing him without cause. A reason has never been given as to Glover’s firing and Guillory only refers to it as a personnel matter. Glover however says he along with the community deserves an explanation.

Wayne Griffin, a 19-year veteran with the department, has been named interim chief and instead of answering Glover’s questions, Guillory wanted to sing the praises of interim Chief Griffin and tout his loyalty to the city.

Glover was fired from the department on October 7^th.

Authorities are searching for 19-year-old Jatavious Carroll of Delhi as he’s the suspected gunman in the fatal shooting that occurred on Grambling State’s campus early Wednesday morning. State Police Master Trooper Michael Reichardt says Carroll also know as “Rabbit” shot two teenagers at an unsanctioned party…

The man fatally shot has been identified as 19-year-old Demarius Murphy of Rayville.

LSU Professor Adelaide Russo who served as chair of the Department of French Studies has been removed from her position after a lawsuit was filed by six women against the university for failing to investigate complaints of sexual misconduct against a former graduate student. On Monday a protest will be held on the campus at 2 pm to raise awareness and support for survivors of sexual assault and harassment.

Funeral services are being held today in Baton Rouge for Master Trooper Adam Gaubert who was killed in the line of duty a week ago in a multi-parish shooting spree. Gaubert was 47. The suspect Matthew Mire is being held in the East Baton Rouge Prison without bond.

Louisianans are enjoying much cooler temperatures today and state climatologist Barry Keim says this is the weekend to spend outdoors

Highs should only reach into the 70s today through Monday.

And almost six weeks after hurricane Ida made landfall, Ochsner St Anne Hospital in Raceland has returned to full operations. The hospital resumed labor and delivery and surgical services on Friday. In the immediate aftermath of Ida, patients were transferred to Ochsner facilities across the state, including Ochsner St. Mary in nearby Morgan City.
