If you’re headed over to Orlando for the LSU/FSU game Triple A spokesperson Don Redman says to check your hotel reservation and make sure you haven’t been bumped by those displaced by the hurricane. Gas-wise expect to pay around $3.70 for a gallon of regular gas, but the biggest concern is whether there will even be gasoline in certain areas of the Sunshine State.

In Louisiana, motorists can expect to pay around $3.40 a gallon.

No. 5 LSU and No. 8 Florida State finally play each other Sunday. The Tigers lost to the Seminoles 24-23 last season after a blocked extra point. The game is being played at a neutral site in Orlando. And Even though the game site is 4 hours from Tallahassee, Coach Brian Kelly says they are preparing for a hostile crowd.

LSU football takes on Florida State for the only top 10 matchup of the weekend, on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. central time. There were many questions going into last year about the team’s offensive line, but star left tackle Will Campbell is entering another year with the team. He says where he is mentally starting the New Year against Florida State.

The game is technically at a neutral site, but Orlando is only four hours away from Talahassee, and Kelly and his team are preparing for a hostile crowd.

ULM plays Army this weekend for their season opener. Last year, Army beat the War Hawks 48-24, backed behind the triple option offense. ULM head coach Terry Bowden says they knew the team was playing the unusual style of football, but now it’s a bit different.

Around the state with college football. The Ragin Cajun play Northwestern State on Saturday at 7:30 pm. Louisiana Tech plays their second game against SMU in Dallas.

SMU actually joined the ACC along with California and Stanford, and they will be official members of the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2024.

Southeastern takes on Mississippi State in Starkville, Mississippi. McNeese State plays Tarleton, and Grambling State plays that Hampton Pirates.

Tulane also plays in New Orleans against South Alabama.

State Police will be out in force this Labor Day weekend looking for drunk drivers. Louisiana Highway Safety Commission Spokesperson Greg Fischer says historically Labor Day is the second deadliest holiday and data from LSU shows 38 vehicle fatalities from 2017 to 2021.

Labor Day gas prices on average are $3.40 a gallon for regular gas across the Gulf South according to Triple-A. Fuel analyst Don Redman says motorists in Alabama, Texas, and Louisiana will see prices range between $3.30 and $3.40 a gallon of regular gas this weekend.

Redman says Mississippi has the best price of around $3.30 a gallon.

The Louisiana Legislature approved legislation earlier this year that brought back the 2nd Amendment Sales Tax Holiday which goes through Sunday. The sales tax holiday was suspended in 2018 because of a state budget shortfall.

A 12-year-old was arrested after bringing a plastic gun to school to terrorize fellow students. Port Barre Police say the male juvenile had a verbal confrontation with two other students days before and brought the fake gun to threaten them on Tuesday. The suspect is charged with attempt to terrorize.
