The ten-year, 36 million dollar contract for Lady Tigers basketball Coach Kim Mulkey was approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors. Only one board member voted against it and that was Jay Blossman, who would rather see coaches get huge bonuses for winning championships

Of the five candidates who participated in the first statewide televised debate, four said that if elected they would immediately call for a special session to address the state’s insurance crisis. Democrat Shawn Wilson said he’s for legislation that requires insurers to make payments in a certain time period, so policyholders receive the coverage they paid for.

A federal judge rules the state must stop sending its most-violent youthful offenders to Angola. Last month the ACLU filed a suit over the deteriorating conditions at the state prison. The ruling says inmates must be removed by September 15th.

The LSU Board of Supervisors has approved a new ten-year, 36-million-dollar contract for Lady Tigers basketball coach Kim Mulkey. It’s the richest contract in women’s college basketball and board member Remy Starns was happy to vote for it…

Five candidates in the governor’s race appeared in the first televised debate ahead of the October 14 primary. Among the topics discussed was the state’s property insurance crisis. The sole Independent candidate Hunter Lundy says multiple hurricanes and the court system being shut down due to COVID only exacerbated the problem and there was little legal recourse.

State police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in Acadia Parish last night. Rayne Police requested assistance following a response to a call of someone firing a gun. Once officers arrived, gunfire was exchanged and the individual was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries. No officers were injured.

A new ad campaign to bring more tourists to the Bayou State is underway. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Office of Tourism launched the “My Louisiana” campaign to promote domestic and international travel. Nungesser says the campaign shows potential visitors that Louisiana has something for everyone.

The campaign will use digital video, print advertising, streaming audio, still photography, visitor guide, and will run on billboards, in major outlets.
