As the United Auto Workers strike enters it’s fourth day… Will Green President of the Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association says a lengthy strike could result in another significant supply chain shortage. He says the strike is impacting Ford, Stellantis, and GM plants.

Loss of containment in the Tiger Island Fire has forced Beauregard Parish authorities to issue another evacuation order for residents south of Highway 10 between Singer and Merryville. Beauregard Parish Sheriff Spokesperson Shannon Burgess says the highway was open but reclosed out of caution for motorists in the area.

Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon announced homeowners will be eligible to apply for $10 thousand grants to strengthen their roofs starting Oct. 2. Donelon says this program is modeled after a successful program that Alabama has been running for a few years…

Another evacuation order has been issued in Beauregard Parish after firefighters lost containment of the Tiger Island Fire due to wind and dry conditions. Shannon Burgess says approximately 200 acres burned where the fire breached and crossed the highway.

For the seventh time in his career, former LSU All-American Mondo Duplantis has broken the pole vault record clearing 20 feet and 5.25 inches. The 23-year-old Lafayette native did so at the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic at the University of Oregon. Duplantis represented his mother’s home country of Sweden.

Another evacuation order has been issued in Beauregard parish after firefighters lost containment of the Tiger Island fire. Four large air tankers and four helicopters are being used to drop water on the flames, according to the Red Strike team.

The I-20 construction project in Bossier and Caddo Parishes starts today. DOTD spokesperson Erin Buchanan says it’s time to replace the pavement that’s been there since the interstate was constructed in the 1960s….

Between 70 to 100-thousand vehicles per day use I-20 in this area. The project cost 118 million dollars.

Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in New Orleans is the first hospital in the state to treat cancer patients using CAR T cell therapy. Cellular Therapy Specialist Dr. Clark Alsfield says the federal government has approved the therapy for its safety and efficacy.

In Friday night’s televised debate featuring the seven main candidates for governor, the two candidates who are expected to be in the run-off faced several different attacks. Republican John Schroder labeled GOP front-runner Jeff Landry as someone tied to a political culture of cronyism and corruption. Landry denied the accusations.

The sole-Democrat and expected second place finisher in the October 14th primary, Shawn Wilson, said he favored exceptions in the state’s near total abortion ban law…

All 15 juvenile offenders placed at a temporary facility in Angola have been moved to a youth facility in Jackson Parish according to the state Office of Juvenile Justice. The lead plaintiff attorney David Utter says they’ll wait to see how the youths are treated before deciding if they will continue with the civil rights lawsuit…

Utter filed the lawsuit to have the youths moved to another facility. He says juveniles were placed in solitary confinement and not getting the necessary rehabilitative treatment. The O-J-J denies those claims.

The body of a missing Vermilion Parish woman has been found and her boyfriend has been arrested. 34 year old David Smith, originally from New Iberia, has been charged with hit and run. An autopsy will determine how 49 year old Bobbie Jo Saltzman died and more charges against Smith are possible.

The state moved 15 juvenile offenders from Angola to a new juvenile justice facility in Jackson Parish.  Attorney David Utter filed the lawsuit to get them moved saying juveniles were placed in solitary confinement and not being rehabilitated.t.

Landry is reporting six-point-six million dollars in cash on hand. The primary is October 14th. Early voting is September 30th.

A fatal disease known as lethal bronzing is killing off thousands of palm trees across south Louisiana. LSU Ag Center Plant Doctor, Raj Singh says the disease is wiping out 16 different types of palms across the state.

The palm tree killer has been detected in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, and Iberia Parishes.
