Taxpayers in the Northwest part of the state will again have in-person help for their tax issues as the Louisiana Department of Revenue reopens their regional office in Shreveport. You can submit your state taxes and payments, make payment plans, but the staff cannot assist with the completion of your return.

LSU will be home to the first Litter Institute in the country. Executive Director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful Susan Russell says the issue of litter goes beyond people simply not disposing of trash properly and it’s complicated.

State Education releases 22-23 Advanced Placement results and high school seniors earn record achievement. Almost nine thousand students scored a three or higher and Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley says seniors earned the first annual increase in average ACT scores in six years.

The Don’t Pollute the Boot state is now home to the first-ever Litter Institute in the country. Executive Director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful Susan Russell says the LSU Litter Institute will not only study the trash issue locally but across the nation to find solutions.

Union Parish DA John Belton filed papers Tuesday dismissing charges of malfeasance in office against Lt. John Clary, the ranking State Police Trooper at the 2019 scene of Ronald Greene’s death. Clary was one of five officers originally indicted last year after a high speed chase, crash and alleged cover-up. Clary is said to be cooperating in the case against the two remaining defendants, Master Trooper Kory our and Union Parish sheriff’s deputy Chris Harpin. On dismissal of Clary’s charges, Greene’s mother said “ Youre glad to see anybody flip but it absolutely has no meaning until we’re through.

The Louisiana Department of Education has released the 2022-2023 Advanced Placement results which show high school seniors have earned record achievement on their placement tests. Nearly nine thousand students earned a three or better. Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley says students who earned a three or better can earn college credits for the course.

The Bayou State is literally a trash receptacle for other states because of litter that flows into the Mississippi River and ultimately the Gulf says Executive Director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful Susan Russell. Louisiana receives the drainage of approximately 100 million people.

DA John Belton says after talking with the Greene family the decision was made and Clary, who’s accused of lying about body-cam footage is expected to testify against other troopers.

The I-10 Atchafalaya Basin Bridge which connects Acadiana to the Baton Rouge area is 50 years old, and Deidra Druilhet with the state transportation says before the 18-mile bridge could go up, they had to build canals…

Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says it’s interesting he has a council devoted just to New Orleans…

It’s November first and even though the season isn’t officially over until the end of the month, State Climatologist Barry Keim says a storm has never made a November landfall in Louisiana. And after back-to-back devastating hurricane seasons in 2020 and 21, Keim says the state got a second reprieve this year.

The Atchafalaya Basin Bridge is 50 years old, and Deidra Druilhet with the Department of Transportation and Development says it was a huge undertaking, it required 174 miles of piling and 170 miles of prestressed concrete girders for a structure that’s only 18 miles long.

Louisiana Department of Education has released the 2022-2023 school year Advanced Placement results. AP data shows nearly 87 hundred high school seniors earned a three or better on their AP exam. Data also shows Louisiana Pre K-12 improved five places in the U-S News and World Report Rankings.

Since the pandemic, many Gen Z and Millennial workers have been willing to sacrifice more to get a shorter week than Gen X and Baby Boomer employees. According to a July Bankrate Survey, the majority of working Americans support a 4-day work week. Bankrate Analyst Sarah Foster says workers are beginning to rethink their priorities.

Deidra Druilhet with the Department of Transportation and Development says the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge has reached its golden anniversary and many Louisianans don’t know the history of its construction, or how it was dredged. She says Approximately 60-thousand vehicles use the bridge daily to cross the Atchafalaya River.
