President Trump returns to Louisiana for the third time in just over a month hoping to boost Republican gubernatorial odds.
The President will be in Bossier City tonight, his last scheduled trip of the campaign. Political consultant Roy Fletcher says it’s aimed at getting Rispone suspicious north Louisiana conservatives to buy-in.
But Fletcher questions just how impactful these presidential rallies have been. Fletcher says Trump’s visit isn’t likely to move the needle much in the incredibly tight race.
Fletcher works for both Democratic and Republican clients and is currently employed by Restore Our Coast, a PAC that has run pro-Edwards ads.
Fletcher says if the visit does make an impact, it won’t be on voters who undecided. He says the trip may get a few more pro-Trump voters to remember to show up Saturday to the polls.
Fletcher made the comments this morning on Talk Louisiana.

Lousiana Republican Congressman Mike Johnson calls the public impeachment hearings that seek to remove President Donald Trump from office as great political theater. Johnson says the Democrats have been rehearsing this for weeks and the script was written the day he was sworn in…

Cut 10 (11) “…subpoenea power.”
Democrats say testimony from the public hearings show President Trump abused his office when he threatened to hold back foreign aid to Ukraine if the country didn’t investigate a political rival. But Johnson says he hasn’t seen any impeachable offenses

Attorney General Jeff Landry says police officers, firefighters, and other first responders are allowed to go to tonight’s Trump rally, despite concerns about the legality of state workers at political rallies.
Landry says he got a call from Congressman Mike Johnson and Representative Alan Seabaugh and had his lawyers dig into the question. He says they found ample constitutional support for the decision.
The issue may have been confused by the Hatch Act, which limits federal worker’s ability to be involved in politics.
Landry’s response included Louisiana law that states the first responders may not make any contributions at the rally, which means no official merch, but…
Landry says the concerns about first responder attendance may have been politically motivated.
