After losing by one vote in the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s race, Republican John Nickelson has filed a lawsuit seeking a new runoff election against Democrat Henry Whitehorn. A recount this morning discovered six additional votes, three for each candidate, which meant Whitehorn remained the winner. The case will be heard Friday in Caddo District Court.

ULM has fired head football coach Terry Bowden after winning just ten games in three seasons. The Warhawks finished the 2023 campaign on a ten-game losing streak. Prior to Monday’s recount, Caddo Clerk of Court Mike Spence, said they found two instances of people inadvertently voting twice, once with a mail-in ballot, the other on Election Day.

A Southwest Airlines passenger allegedly jumped down from the wing of a plane after opening the emergency door Sunday evening. The 38 year old man was detained at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport after he ran across the tarmac and tried to drive away in a service truck, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. The man was reportedly incoherent when stopped by authorities.  He was not arrested but transported to a hospital for evaluation of his mental status. His name has not be released and JPSO turned the investigation over to federal authorities.

The website shows that Daniels leads the country in numerous categories, including total yards, total touchdowns, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, passer rating and the number of plays, 20 yards or more, which is 90. The Saints had a chance to take a firm grip on first place in the NFC South, but lost to Atlanta 24 to 15. New Orleans made five trips to the red zone and failed to score a touchdown each time. Also receivers Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave also went down with injuries. Shaheed has a hamstring injury, while Olave suffered a concussion.

In Caddo Parish Henry Whitehorn remains the winner of the sheriff’s race after a recount this morning. A one-vote victory on November 18th prompted opponent John Nickelson to call for a recount. 7,000 mail-in ballots were rescanned today and each candidate received three additional votes, so Whitehorn is still the winner by one vote.

LSU is promoting Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels as a Heisman Trophy candidate. Over 900 voters will receive a ballot today to vote for the prestigious award. LSU Sports Information Department Michael Bonnette has unveiled thatkidjayden dot com, a website that informs voters of all of his accomplishments.

LSU Quarterback Jayden Daniels finished off his Heisman campaign by throwing four touchdown passes in the Tigers 42-30 win over Texas A-and-M. Daniels was held in check in the first half as he only threw for 52 yards and rushed for 59.

But Early in the fourth quarter, LSU linebacker Greg Penn intercepted a pass setting up the Tigers’ offense at the Aggies’ 39-yard line. Three plays later, Daniels connected with Brian Thomas Jr. on a 23-yard TD pass as he made the grab over a defender. Daniels says that play got the offense going…

Daniels will find out if he’s a Heisman finalist next Monday. The team will find out on Sunday their bowl game destination and opponent.

A very frustrating loss for the Saints yesterday as they fell to the Atlanta Falcons 24 to 15. Kicker Blake Grupe was responsible for all of their points as the rookie made five fields goals. New Orleans made five trips into the red zone and failed to score a touchdown. Coach Dennis Allen thought they had solved their red zone woes that hurt the team earlier in the year…

The loss drops New Orleans’ record to 5-and-6, while Atlanta improves to 5-and-6 and they are in first place in the lousy NFC South since they own the tie breaker. New Orleans is back home this Sunday to face the Detroit Lions.

After three seasons, Terry Bowden is out as the head coach of ULM. The Warhawks just concluded a two and ten season and in three seasons in Monroe Bowden went 10 and 26.
