Time is getting short for sending holiday mail and packages and you want it to reach its destination by Dec 25th. If you’re sending by US mail the USPS website says, you have until December 16 to mail. You get an extra 4 days if you send priority but even the fastest method, priority mail express has to be sent by December 21st. UPS and FedEx have similar deadlines.

Gov. John Bel Edwards and First Lady Donna Edwards will honor Louisiana Veterans this evening at the 3rd annual US Armed Forces Memorial Grove Lighting Ceremony in Louisiana Veterans Memorial Park. The Edwards are hosting with the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs to honor fallen soldiers and their families. The University Lab school Choir will sing as 100,000 lights will adorn the grove of Crepe Myrtles outside the Capitol, Monday evening beginning at 5:30 PM. After human remains were found in the woods in Bastrop, the police department has released very little information. They were found on Sunday south of White Avenue near the intersection of South Cox. No other details of the investigation have been released.

LSU’s Jayden Daniels will be officially named a Heisman finalist today. He’ll find out on Saturday night if he won. The 13th ranked Fighting Tigers will play Wisconsin in the Reliaquest Bowl on January first in Tampa. The Badgers are seven and five and they are not very good on offense.

ULM will reportedly hire Bryant Vincent as its new head coach. Vincent was an assistant at UAB from 2018 to 2021 and served as the Blazers interim coach in 2022. He’s was New Mexico’s offensive coordinator this past season. The Lobos went four and eight.

The Ragin Cajuns will play Jacksonville State in the New Orleans Bowl on December 16th. Tulane will face Virginia Tech in the Military Bowl on December 27th in Annapolis, Maryland, but Coach Wille Fritz has left the Greenies to be new head coach at Houston.

Monroe Police Detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding the person responsible for the shooting of a 29-year-old woman. Monroe P-D received a call about a shooting on Owl Street early Sunday morning. It was initially reported the woman died, but authorities that that’s not the case and they are still looking for leads.
