The actors’ strike is officially over after members voted to ratify a three-year deal with studios. Streaming has drastically changed the economics of show biz and Baton Rouge actor Jason Bayle says it’s harder for middle-class actors like himself to make money. He voted to end the strike, but like others, he’s concerned about Artificial Intelligence or AI.

The four-month strike not only kept actors out of work, but other professionals like camera operators, caterers, and electricians to name a few. Bayle says the first-year raise they’ll receive from the new agreement probably won’t cover the amount of money they lost while on strike.

In the past, Bayle says it was easy to measure viewership when a production aired on linear television and talent was compensated based on ratings. But with streaming he says actors aren’t properly rewarded.

All three are charged with 1st-degree murder. Washington was also charged with accessory after the fact. Sheriff Tommy Romero is asking the public for patience and prayers.

Governor-Elect Jeff Landry has appointed Mandeville Representative and former gubernatorial candidate Richard Nelson as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Revenue. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says there’s speculation Nelson dropped out of the race in exchange for a position with Landry’s administration.

The New Orleans swamp fire that contributed to the 168-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 in Saint John the Baptist Parish plie that killed eight people and injured 63 others nearly a month ago has finally been put out. Officials say the fire drilled into the swamp’s dense soil which had become dry and combustible after weeks of drought.

An 11 year old girl was arrested and charged with murder in Iberville parish on November 28. On Tuesday her 15 year old brother was arrested by Houston Police and her mother, 40 year Sabrina Washington were also arrested. All three are charged with 1st degree murder in the shooting death of Kameron Bedsole. Sheriff Tommy Romero says it’s extremely tragic for all involved and he asks for patience and prayers.

A federal judge is expected to rule soon if the state will need to redraw it’s legislative maps. The case is similar to the state’s congressional map that was found in violation of the Voting Rights Act. The case questions if lawmakers diluted minority voting for both the House and state Senate. Lawmakers are poised to have a special session to redraw the congressional map next month.
