“The Life and Times of a Governor’s Daughter,” the autobiography of Victoria Edwards, tells the story of her life as Governor Edwin Edwards’ second oldest child and how their tumultuous relationship came full circle before his death. Now 71, the former model, actress, and high school teacher says she felt motivated to tell her story.

Looking back, Edwards says she finally understood why she had such a rocky relationship with her father one, because they were so much alike, and second because she was bipolar, a diagnosis she didn’t receive until her 40s. She says their relationship was mended before he passed away.

Being bipolar Edwards says her sister often reminds her that she doesn’t have a filter and that she needs to think before she speaks often. Edwards says while she can be brutally honest, she hopes readers have a better understanding of the unique life she’s led and that having a good relationship with Christ is what’s most important.

Worsham says production has been able to capture the full scope of the 2023 athletic year. He says the all-access pass will highlight surreal experiences of LSU’s top NIL players.

Full squad workouts are underway for college baseball teams and the LSU Tigers are looking to repeat as national champions. Coach Jay Johnson likes the mindset of his team as he does not see any complacency….

Cardell Hayes has been found guilty of manslaughter in the 2016 killing of former Saints star Will Smith. A jury reached the verdict just after midnight last night. Hayes was found not guilty of the attempted manslaughter of Smith’s wife Racquel. Defense attorneys have said they will appeal the manslaughter conviction.

Former teacher and coach at St. Thomas More High School, Lafayette, Angel Rafael Cardona pleaded guilty on a child pornography charge Friday.  In a plea deal Cardona pleaded guilty to enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity and will serve at least 10 years in prison.  Information presented in court showed in June of 2023, Cardona began an online conversation with a user identified as a 13-year-old girl but was actually an undercover law enforcement officer.

Former Orleans Parish District Attorney Harry Connick Senior passed away Thursday. He was the longest-serving DA in New Orleans from 1973 to 2003.  Loyola Law Professor Dane Ciolino says some of Connick’s cases went as high as the US Supreme Court and were overturned for violations of not turning over favorable evidence to the defense.

A leading manufacturer of building materials has announced plans to invest $75 million dollars to expand and modernize its Oakdale facility in Allen Parish. Boise Cascade Vice President Mike Brown says the company expects to create 30 new direct jobs and Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will create 77 new indirect jobs. Brown says the expansion of the Oakdale facility will increase production and upgrading machines and technology will mean increase efficiency.

Governor Jeff Landry has named Susan Bonnett Bourgeois of Covington as the new Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Economic Development saying she is exactly what the department needs to move Louisiana’s economy forward. Bourgeois is no stranger to state government as she held multiple roles in the late Governor Mike Foster’s administration.

Authorities say the bodies of 67 year old John Moss and his wife Christina Moss of the same age were found inside of a burning home in Leesville on Thursday. Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft says the Moss’s were going through a divorce and were in court earlier that morning. Authorities believe John shot his wife before starting the fire and then turned the gun on himself.

The Pelicans took on one of the better teams in the Western Conference last night, without Zion Williamson, and could not hang with the Oklahoma City Thunder. O-K-C held New Orleans to a season low in points, 83, as the Pels lost 107 to 83. The Pelicans shot just 39 percent from the field and committed 20 turnovers. Coach Willie Green knows they can play better against the better teams in the NBA…

The Pelicans finished a four-game homestand with a 2-2 record. They are in Milwaukee tonight. Williamson, who missed last night’s game with a sore foot, his status for tonight’s game is unknown.

The 9th-ranked LSU Lady Tigers led for most of the game last night, but South Carolina played with poise down the stretch and left Baton Rouge with a 76-70 victory. The Gamecocks outscored LSU 24-14 in the fourth quarter and LSU star player Angel Reese fouled out with about four minutes left. Coach Kim Mulkey says it’s a tough loss, but there’s still plenty of season left…

The loss ended LSU’s home winning streak at 29 games.

In other action last night, Louisiana Tech dribbled past UTEP 68-54 to remain perfect at home this season. The Bulldogs also improved to 4-and-1 in Conference USA play.

ULM won its second straight, an 80-66 win over South Alabama and the Warhawks will face Arkansas State at 1 PM on Sunday.

Sunday is championship Sunday in the NFL. At 2 PM, the Chiefs battle the Ravens in Baltimore in the AFC Title Game and then at 5:30 it’s the 49ers hosting the Detroit Lions for the NFC Championship Game. Former Saints defensive back C-J Garner Johnson is trying to help the Lions get the Super Bowl for the first time ever…

Authorities say the bodies of John and Christina Moss, both 67-years-old, were found inside of a Leesville house fire Thursday apparently victims of a murder-suicide. Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft says the Moss’s were in court that morning for divorce proceedings. He says authorities believe John shot his wife before starting the fire and then turned the gun on himself.
