Monday’s LSU-Iowa game goes down as the most-watched women’s college basketball game on record according to Nielsen data. ESPN says the game averaged 12-point-3 million viewers, making it the most-watched college basketball game.

The Ragin Cajuns extended their nation’s longest winning streak to 12 games last night with a 13 to 3 seven inning win over Nicholls. Duncan Pastore had four hits, Kyle DeBarge hit his ninth homer and John Taylor extended his hitting streak to 17 games.

Louisiana Tech won in walk-off fashion last night, beating Little Rock seven to six. Adarius Mayes drove in the winning run. Ethan Bates had 2 RBIs.

Southeastern Louisiana also had a walk-off win as Shae Thomas hit his team leading sixth home run of the season to lead off the bottom of the ninth to give the Lions a seven to six win over Southern Miss.

McNeese outscored Alcorn State nine to seven and Northwestern State knocked off Grambling four to one.

A new football coach is needed at Neville High School as Jeff Tannehill has resigned after four seasons. Tannehill was placed on administrative leave at the beginning of March because of an investigation looking into possible misuse of student funds, but was reinstated after three weeks.

Neville High school needs a new football coach. Jeff Tannehill has resigned after four seasons. Tannehill was placed on administrative leave March 1 as he was under investigation for possible misuse of student funds at Monroe City Schools. He was reinstated three weeks later. The Ouachita Citizen reports Tannehill’s resignation has nothing to do with an audit.

Ten former LSU students who sued the school for allegedly mishandling complaints of sexual assault and domestic violence involving football players and others have settled the case. Settlement terms have not been made public. Legal analyst Franz Borhardt…

The sexual misconduct suit filed by 10 former students against LSU has been settled out of court. Legal analyst Franz Borghardt says sometimes settlements are based on economic decisions of the cost of defending versus the value of the actual suits…

Complaints in the suit included allegations of sexual misconduct and domestic violence by LSU football players. Although settlement terms were not disclosed, Borghardt says there’s a value to being paid now versus after a trial…

And due to the sensitive nature of the case, Borghardt says there’s value in keeping the plaintiffs from having to testify during a trial and relieve their trauma….

Governor Landry believes the LSU women’s basketball team should have been on the floor for the national anthem before the game against Iowa. The Governor is suggesting a policy to take scholarships away from student-athletes who are not present for the national anthem. Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino says the proposal is unconstitutional.

LSU says both men’s and women’s basketball teams have not been on the court for the national anthem for the last several years. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says everyone needs to take a step back.

To raise money to build a proper animal shelter with a spay/neuter clinic in Evangeline Parish, Matthew Baker, founder of Heros Everywhere Animal Rescue, has committed to sleeping outside with their 64 rescue dogs. He’s hoping to raise $250,000 to build the facility on land they’ve donated.

You’ve heard the expression when you lay down with the dogs you get fleas, well Baker is hoping to get funds instead. His wife Bre is just as committed to the shelter, but he says she’ll be sleeping indoors taking care of animals that need to be bottle fed.

All joking aside, the Baker says they are committed to animal rescue and once the facility is constructed, local veterinarians have also offered to volunteer their time to spay and neuter animals.

The House Transportation Committee approves a bill that would require speed enforcement cameras to get a picture of the driver of a speeding vehicle, along with the license plate. Marksville Representative Daryl Deshotel says he’s seeking to pass this bill because there are residents receiving speeding tickets when it was someone else driving their vehicle

Deshotel is not a fan of the speed enforcement cameras. He believes their main objective is to collect cash and do nothing to help control speeding. He says a real life police officer are the ones that should be issuing tickets…

Former Baker Police Chief Mike Knaps argued against the legislation. Knaps says the speed enforcement cameras are an important tool in getting motorists to slow down…

For just the fourth time ever, Southern beat LSU in baseball. The Jaguars defeated the Tigers 12 to 7 as LSU lost for the sixth time in it last seven games. The Tigers only had four hits and committed three errors. LSU will have a couple of days off and then will host sixth ranked Vanderbilt on Thursday.

Landry says he respects coach Kim Mulkey, but there should be a deep respect for those who serve to protect and unite us under one flag. Mulkey says she didn’t know when the anthem was played….

A new 20-foot by 30-foot pavilion at Jimmie Davis State Park in Jackson Parish has opened. Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says the North Central Baptist Association paid for and constructed the new facility.

Located near the park’s campground, the pavilion accommodates around 50 people.

Nungesser says the NCBA has used the smaller pavilion for other activities including summer day camps. He hopes this project sparks interest among other church organizations to partner with state parks.

Nungesser says its local partnerships that benefit state parks and the local community. He hopes community events attract Louisianans of all ages to state parks especially the youth.

A bill has been filed to begin the constitutional convention on May 20th, but the regular session is not scheduled to end until June 3rd. Senate President Cameron Henry says there are a lot of unknowns.

Henry says Governor Jeff Landry wants a streamlined state constitution that can be approved by voters in November. Henry says ending the current session early will be difficult because there are significant budget problems.

Lawmakers have been in Baton Rouge since January, with two back-to-back special sessions and the regular one that began on March 11th and is scheduled to end on June 3rd. Henry says the idea of extending that to mid-July is a bit daunting.

Louisiana State police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man shot by a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputy in Ponchatoula Monday afternoon after police say, Warren Burton pointed a gun at the deputies who were at a residence to serve an order of protective custody. State Police says deputies tried to negotiate with Burton to put the firearm away when Burton pointed it at the deputies. Burton died on the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
