Cheramie was convicted on sexual battery, molestation and indecent behavior charges. Chatagnier says the victim initially reported the incident to school administrators, but an internal investigation yielded little action. He says the victim now as an adult came forward again, reporting the incident to law enforcement, which led to a conviction…

Political newcomer, Quentin Anderson from Baton Rouge has entered the race to run for the 6th Congressional District and says he wants to bring integrity and honor back to public service.  As the son and grandson of preachers and military veterans, Anderson says he was taught the value of public service.

He also runs a non-profit professional called the Justice Alliance and has done consulting for Together Baton Rouge and Together Louisiana. Anderson says his background is figuring out ways to talk about progressive solutions with individuals who aren’t progressive.

The 35-year-old says he wants to focus on crime, particularly youth violent crime. Anderson says he wants to invest in youth jobs programs and ways to keep them busy.

He says addressing crime is much deeper than policing, it’s about providing opportunity instead of a life of corruption.

And Anderson says he wants to address infrastructure and revitalization.

The small business owner, who received his undergraduate at Louisiana Tech and a law degree from LSU has qualified as a Democrat, running against state Senator Cleo Fields and former legislator Elbert Guillory.

A federal grand jury has indicted New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s former bodyguard, Jeffrey Vappie, on seven counts of wire fraud and one count of false statement. The U-S Attorney’s office says Vappie lied to cover up a romantic relationship with Cantrell and political analyst Clancy Dubos says the indictment implicates the major who is described as “public official one”….

The indictment says there were meals and alcohol shared between the two during at least 14 domestic and international travels from 2021 to March of this year. He says those trips cost taxpayers more than 47-thousand dollars.

So why is Cantrell not facing an indictment? Dubos says federal prosecutors take their time before indicting a public official

Louisiana public schools and universities will not be posting the 10 Commandments just yet. Friday, U.S. District Judge John DeGravelles ordered Louisiana Superintendent of Education, Cade Brumley and members of the Board of Education and Secondary Education to delay posting them until at least November 15. He says he needs time to hear both sides in a lawsuit against that claims the new law requiring schools to post the Ten Commandments violates the Constitution and separation of Church and State.

A Federal judge is blocking the posting of the Ten Commandments in Louisiana Public Schools until November 15 at the earliest. Lawmakers gave a January 1st deadline to implement the new law requiring schools to post them, but US District Judge John DeGravelles is delaying any early implementation as he hears both sides in a lawsuit brought by groups claiming the new law violates the constitution.

Former New Orleans police officer and member of Mayor Cantrell’s security team Jeffrey Vappie was indicted today, by a federal grand jury. Details of the charges he faces have not yet been disclosed. Vappie’s attorney Harry Rosenberg, a former U.S. Attorney, says he is waiting to see a copy of the indictment before commenting.

The LSU Tigers are picked to finish fifth in the Southeastern Conference based on a poll of media members who attended the conference’s football media days. Georgia is the preseason favorite to win the league, followed by Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss.

Also offensive tackle Will Campbell and linebacker Harold Perkins lead a list of eight LSU players who have been named preseason All-SEC. Campbell and Perkins are first-team selections, along with Mississippi State transfer Zavion Thomas who is listed as an all-purpose player.

Emery Jones, Mason Taylor, Kyren Lacy, Major Burns received second-team recognition.

It’s not expected to be a good year for Louisiana Tech based on a Conference USA preseason poll released today. The Bulldogs are picked to finish seventh in the ten team league. Liberty is the preseason favorite to win the conference, followed by Western Kentucky, Jacksonville State and Middle Tennessee.

This week LSU football received a commitment from Florida prospect DJ Pickett, who is ranked as the best cornerback in the country. Pickett can officially sign at LSU in December. A car crash has claimed the life of 90-year-old Jean Ducote of Lafayette. State Police say Ducote was a rear seat passenger in a vehicle that was rear-ended on Highway 74 in Ascension Parish. The crash happened Wednesday afternoon and Ducote died from her injuries yesterday. State Police continues to investigate the fatal wreck.
