After resigning last week as Mayor of Deridder, 42-year-old Misty Roberts was arrested today and charged with 3rd degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. The LSP Special Victims Unit is investigating the case. State Police Sgt Ross Brennan says if you believe a child or anyone is being victimized, you should speak up and notify law enforcement.

There’s a 70% chance of a cyclone developing over the weekend, but it looks like it won’t hit Louisiana. What could hit Louisiana, though, is at least one of the 22 named storms predicted for this above-average Atlantic hurricane season, especially as we head into the peak of the season. LSU climatologist Barry Keim says we were spared in July thanks to the Saharan Air Layer passing through.

The LSU football team kicked off fall training camp today. The defense has been a big concern for LSU fans and staff alike. The Tigers overhauled the defensive coaching staff this offseason starting with new coordinator Blake Baker. Kelly says his young secondary has improved and expect new contributors on the defensive front…

Linebacker Harold Perkins headlines the defense and was named to the Nagurski Award preseason watchlist for the best defensive player in college football. LSU’s season will kickoff September 1 in Las Vegas against USC.

LSU flipped three-star linebacker Jaiden Braker from South Carolina. Braker has been pledged to the Gamecocks since July 6 but now joins the Tigers’ star-studded 2025 class following a visit to LSU’s Bayou Splash event.

McNeese linebacker Micah Davey was 1 of 30 players named to the preseason watchlist for the Buck Buchanan award for the best defensive player in D-1 FCS football. Davey led the nation in tackles last season and was a finalist as the FCS top defensive player. He joins Nicholls defensive back Tyler Morton.

The Louisiana Tech football team began fall practice yesterday as they look to improve after three straight 3-and-9 seasons. The Bulldogs welcomed new Defensive Coordinator Jeremiah Johnson in December to help improve the last-ranked defense in Conference USA last season. Defensive lineman Mykol Clark thinks LA Tech can have the best defense in the league this year, and the energy in the locker room feels different…

While details of the attempt remain limited, Congressman Garret Graves says, the task force is expected to work closely with law enforcement agencies to gather evidence and provide comprehensive findings.

State police took over the investigation from the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office when they received a complaint. State Police Sgt Ross Brennan says, the LSP Special Victim’s Unit is investigating the case and says if you believe a child, or anyone is being victimized, to speak up and notify law enforcement.

It’s not expected to reach the Western Gulf but chances are Louisiana will be hit with at least one other named storm this season. State Climatologist Barry Keim encourages coastal residents to follow evacuation instructions and inland residents to plan for power outages. Above all, he says, start preparing now.

He says he looks forward to catching up with old friends and making new ones at the bipartisan gathering, And while they might differ when it comes to politics…

Among the ideas they share are how to improve education, cyber security, and healthcare. Nungesser says the idea to move Keep Louisiana Beautiful under the umbrella of his office came from Tennessee and other states who’ve been successful in cleaning up their roadways.

Among the ideas, he’s sharing with other states is to get them on board with supporting an inspection fee on imported seafood. And he’s also lobbying to bring the conference to New Orleans in the future.

Colorado State University meteorologists predict 22 more named storms, 11 more hurricanes, and 5 more major hurricanes in the Atlantic, and LSU climatologist Barry Keim says Louisiana could easily see at least one of those storms as we head into the peak of hurricane season.

Keim says June was an incredibly busy month for hurricanes, including the earliest ever Category 5. However, July saw no storms until the very end of the month, which Keim says is due to the Saharan Air Layer passing through.

Though the Atlantic hurricane season doesn’t account for individual regions, chances are Louisiana will be hit with at least one other named storm this season. Keim encourages coastal residents to follow evacuation instructions and inland residents to plan for power outages. Above all, he says, start preparing now.

Now Former Deridder mayor, Misty Clanton Roberts, is facing rape charges. She was arrested this morning after an investigation by Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office. The investigation has been turned over to Louisiana State Police. She’s accused of third-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. On Friday, 42-year-old Roberts said she would be out for two weeks as she appointed Fire Chief Ken Harlow to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. She then resigned on Saturday.

The mayor of Deridder resigned Saturday and was arrested on rape charges this morning. Misty Clanton Roberts is facing charges of third-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office has not yet released details of their investigation but Friday, Roberts appointed Fire chief Ken Harlow to serve as mayor pro tem saying she would be away for two week. She then resigned the next day.

Nuss and Kloth are 2-0 entering their final match of pool play against China with a win securing 1st in their pool. The match starts at 3pm.
