LSU pitcher Aidan Moffett has entered the transfer portal. Moffett showed some promise this season and he finished with an ERA of 5.60 in 16 games. Micah Bucknam has also entered the transfer portal.

Meanwhile LSU’s Griffin Herring has been named Stopper of the Year. The left-hander was 6-1 with a 1.79 ERA and six saves.

ESPN announced today the LSU-North Carolina matchups on Saturday and Monday were the two most watched NCAA Baseball regional games on record. Monday night’s game averaged 964-thousand viewers on ESPN two.

The College football play has released game times for the 12-team playoff. The first postseason game will be on December 20th at 7 PM. That’s a Friday night. There will be three games on December 21st. The Sugar Bowl is a quarterfinal site and they will host a playoff game on New Year’s Day at 7:45 in the Ceasars Superdome.

Former LSU women’s basketball player Hailey Van Lith will compete in the Summer Olympics. She has made the U-S Women’s Olympic three-on-three basketball team, along with Cameron Brink, Cierra Burdic and Rhyne Howard.

Multiple reports say the number one women’s basketball player in the Class of 2025 is visiting LSU today. Five-foot-nine guard Aaliyah Chavez is from Lubbock, Texas.

Governor Jeff Landry has signed into law a bill that gives the governor the authority to appoint the chairs of boards that he already appoints the majority of the membership. While making that announcement, Landry says he’s keeping Mark Romero as the chairman of the University of Louisiana System, which oversees nine public universities in the state.

The Pennsylvania native moved to Lafayette in 1970 and a year later started Acadian Ambulance with two ambulances. Zuschlag appeared on WRKF’s Talk Louisiana in 2022 and talked about growing Acadian Ambulance into one of the country’s largest privately held medical transportation companies

Louisiana started sending a rotation of 50 Louisiana Army National Guardsmen to the Texas border last March to help secure the border against illegal crossings. The three-month deployment is coming to an end and Landry says he is in talks with Texas Governor Greg Abbott about keeping Louisiana soldiers at the border.

Landry says even the Louisiana Legislative State Auditor gives the state’s election high marks.

Governor Jeff Landry is expected to sign all of the bills, including one that passed three times before, but former Governor John Bel Edwards vetoed them each time. She says the legislation allows them to further clean up the voter rolls when someone has been inactive for 10 years. It’s estimated that 160,000 people fall into that category.

Inactive voters will still be able to vote and when they do they’ll return to active status unless they fail to vote in two consecutive federal elections, then they are removed and will have to register to vote again.

When asked if the 11 bills would make it more difficult to vote, Landry believes the changes won’t create any burdens for voters.

Governor Jeff Landry and several other Republican governors spoke at a diesel refinery in Chalmette to hammer the Biden administration’s energy policy. Landry says the Biden administration’s enhanced energy regulations have cost taxpayers almost $1.4 trillion since he took office.

President Biden announced plans to put significant restrictions on migrants seeking asylum at the southern border. The plan kicks in when border encounters reach 2,500 per day, then any migrant without a reason to fear return to their country will be removed from the US within days or hours. Many Republicans including Senator Bill Cassidy question the president’s timing.

Several bills to enhance education in the state were passed in the session, but Council for a Better Louisiana President Barry Erwin points out that lawmakers sent a mixed message on education with another round of teacher pay stipends instead of raises and a $9 million cut to early childhood education.

Erwin praised passage of legislation to improve math literacy.

The Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo in Monroe is 100 years old this month. And for their centennial they’ve added a Louisiana Purchase exhibit where Emily Stogner with the City of Monroe says you can feed the animals and get a sense of what it was like back in 1803.
