Veteran Lucas Patrick moved from guard to center during Sunday’s loss to the Eagles and he’ll likely take over at center. But McCoy is considered the glue of the offensive line and his absence in Philadelphia’s loss was evident.

 

New Orleans will be at Atlanta this Sunday and the Falcons lost their starting Drew Dalman. He was placed on injured reserve today with a high ankle sprain. Atlanta could also be without starting right tackle Kaleb McCray who left last Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs with an injury.

Former LSU star Jayden Daniels is the talk of the NFL today as he put on a historic performance last night as the Commanders defeated Joe Burrow and the Bengals 38 to 33. In his third NFL game, Daniels set an NFL rookie record for a completion percentage of 91 percent. The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner also accounted for three touchdowns.

The LSU Tigers are facing a very good offensive team this week. After opening the season with losses to North Texas and Ohio, South Alabama has scored a combined 135 points in blowout victories over Northwestern State and Appalachian State.

Jaguars starting quarterback is a redshirt freshman, Gio Lopez, who rushed and threw for over 100 yards last week. And freshman running back Fluff Bothwell is averaging nearly ten yards a carry. Coach Brian Kelly…

Having passed up a re-election bid, Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves is trying to squeeze his legislative priorities into the three-plus months he has left in office. He is working with New Orleans Democrat Troy Carter on legislation that would, among other things, remove income limits to qualify for grants to pay off disaster recovery loans.

The Senate will again take up Senator Bill Cassidy’s RISEE (RISE) Act. Cassidy says RISEE, or Reinvesting in Shorelines Economies and Ecosystems Act amends the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act and removing the revenue-sharing cap will bring tremendous benefits to the state.

He says RISEE, or Reinvesting in Shorelines Economies and Ecosystems Act will bring billions to the state to rebuild shorelines, support flood structures and bring in thousands of good paying jobs. Cassidy hopes to bring the bill to the finish line this time around.

Leo says organizers weren’t sure whether the team would accept its invitation, and they’re thrilled that it has.

In only his third game with the Commanders, Jayden Daniels set an NFL record as he completed 91-percent of his passes in a 38-33 win over Joe Burrow and the Bengals. Daniels had three touchdowns and the former LSU star is not completely surprised by his early success…

The Saints have been accused of playing dirty in their loss to the Eagles. But Allen said his guys played extremely hard. And Saints linebacker Payton Turner denies he spit on Devonta Smith when he was on the ground hurt.

The Pac-12 approached Tulane and several other schools in the American Athletic Conference to join a new look Pac-12. However, Tulane and the other schools are staying in the A-A-C.

In August, Dupree admitted to a brief affair with a former employee who later filed a hostile workplace environment complaint with the EEOC. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is taking its fight against waste tires to the people. LDEQ Secretary Aurelia Giacometto (jock-uh-MET-oh) says tires that are properly disposed of not only keep the state clean, but also go to good use.

The department is holding six town hall meetings across the state to gain input on changes that it can present to Governor Landry.

Bossier Parish authorities arrested an Elm Grove man who allegedly held a woman captive for three days and sexually assaulted her.  Sean Richardson has more.

A man who Bossier Parish investigators say held a woman against her will for three days and sexually assaulted her is under arrest. The sheriff’s office says 52-year-old Gary Free of Elm Grove held the woman in a cabin at the Red River South Marina before she was able to escape. Free was arrested and booked on numerous charges including second-degree kidnapping and first-degree rape.
