There’s been a rash of camp burglaries in the Chauvin/Cocodrie area, and now a couple of arrests have been made by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office early Monday morning. Twenty-seven year-old Simon Pelligrin and 21 year-old Catelyn Trahan were each booked on 40 counts of simple burglary involving an estimated total of $40 thousand dollars worth of items.

The Wall Street Journal reports says the US Senate race in Louisiana is one of the dirtiest in the nation. The publication did a study of campaign ads and found that zero ads by Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu and Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy were positive over a two-week period. Some say this is the most negative campaign in the nation.

The state says the number of Louisiana students scoring 3 or higher on Advanced Placement exams – and thereby earning college credit – has increased 24.6 percent in 2014. The state education department also says more students are taking AP classes: Louisiana is now ranked 38th for the percentage of high school juniors and seniors taking an AP test. In 2012, we were last in the nation.

The Shreveport Police Department says an arrest has been made in the case of a deadly hit and run that happened Monday morning. They say 27-year-old Raphell Rogers of Shreveport is the suspect in the case of a pedestrian female who was found dead on the side of the road around 5am yesterday. The victim is not being identified at this time.

The New Orleans Police Department says they found 3 bodies early this morning in Bywater after what they believe is a double murder-suicide. An investigation has thus far determined that a 55-year-old man shot and killed his 60-year-old sister and 58-year-old brother before killing himself. Detectives are not releasing the identities of those involved at this time.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are looking for the killer of a black bear in Concordia Parish. Spokesman Adam Einck says this animal was part of their Black Bear Restoration Program and its movements were being tracked with a radio collar. He says the bear was normally tracked in the Turnbull Island area…:
