The victim, 48-year-old Jimmy Atwell, passed away from injuries sustained in the incident. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Robinson on second degree murder charges and bond has been set at $500,000. Robinson is still at-large.

It was a violent weekend in the Crescent City as police report a total of nine people are recovering from gunshot wounds throughout the metro area. New Orleans Police say the gun violence ranged from New Orleans East to South Carrolton in broad daylight. While the city’s murder rate is down from last year, New Orleans Police Chief Ronal Serpas says it’s clear that NOPD needs more police officers.

A Grant Parish woman has been arrested after she was standing in the middle of Parsonage Road,yelling, holding a knife an throwing rocks at passing cars. When a deputy arrived, she dropped the knife, took a swing at him, and ran away. When that deputy caught up to her, fifty year-old Connie Pennington of Colfax became violent. She was arrested on numerous charges.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a Sulphur woman whom deputies found yesterday. A family member made the call, saying she had not heard from sixty-six year-old Pamela Parker in a couple of days. When deputies arrived, they found Parker dead inside her home. Authorities are ruling the death as a homicide, and that investigation is on-going.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Patterson man for allegedly hitting a teenager in the head with a vase that fractured his skull. Investigators say the 16-year-old boy was attempting to stop a heated argument between 38-year-old Charles Elmore and a woman when the incident happened. Elmore was charged with second degree battery. The boy is in a local hospital, his condition was not given.

In Grant Parish, a woman is under arrest after reportedly standing in the middle of the road in Colfax holding a knife and throwing rocks at passing cars. The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office says when a deputy approached 50-year-old Connie Pennington, she swung at him and began running away. She then became physcally violent by fighting the deputy. Pennington has been charged with battery of a police officer, two counts of resisting an officer, and disturbing the peace.
