The Iberville Parish Fire Department say three people were taken to a Baton Rouge hospital for evaluation after a chlorine leak happened at a chemical plant in St. Gabriel. Officials say it was a leak from a storage tank Monday morning. There was no off site impact.

Sgt. Bill Gooden says this deadly incident began when a group of teens were kicked out of a Christmas party at a hotel for fighting…:

State Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle last night in St. Martin Parish. Master Trooper Brooks David says 48-year-old Brian Bearden of Youngsville was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He says officers responded to a crash last night on US 90…:

New Orleans beat Tampa Bay yesterday 23-20 but some fans aren’t happy about that because we’re down to likely number 13 in the first round for next year’s draft. NFL Analsyt Mike Detillier says now the team needs to focus on getting some solid players at center and cornerback and with the right personnel moves, the team can get right back to wining. He reminds the Black & Gold faithful of 2005…:

An arrest has been made in the Christmas Day shooting in Lafayette that left one victim dead and injured another. Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton says twenty-three-year-old Chesmond Paris of Lafayette is charged with second-degree murder, in connection with the shooting death of 23-year-old Wilbert Simon (SEE mon).

A Thibodaux woman has been arrested with her 3rd DWI as she crashes her car with an unrestrained toddler inside into a home early Sunday morning. Twenty-nine year-old Arielle Dumas of Thibodaux was charged with 3rd offense DWI, reckless operation and no child restraint system. The child suffered minor injuries, and Dumas was booked into the Lafourche Parish Dentention Center on a $21 thousand, 300 dollar bond.

Forty-eight year-old Brian Bearden of Youngsville was pronounced dead athe hospital. The driver – who was not impaired – told police, he just didn’t see Bearden. Four different phone bomb threats to Pineville area businesses beginning a few days before Christmas. This created huge headaches for employees and customers. The Town Talk reports a couple of calls came in to Walmart on Highway 165, along with others to CVS and Radio Shack. The stores had to be closed and searched.

Trooper Evan Harrell says Evan Danos was a passenger in a vehicle that failed to negotiate a left hand turn on LA 1 and ran off the roadway and struck a tree on the passenger side of the vehicle…

Danos was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Colby Callais, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Harrell says this crash is still under investigation…

The University of Michigan will reportedly announce the hiring of former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh as their new football coach. The apparent agreement ends a nearly month long coaching search that included speculation that LSU head coach Les Miles would head the Wolverine program.

State Police say a Galliano teen is dead after a vehicle he was in struck a tree in Lafourche Parish. Authorities say 19-year-old Colby Callais was driving a vehicle when he missed a curve and traveled off the roadway hitting a tree on the passenger side of the vehicle. A passenger, 18-year-old Evan Danos, was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. Authorities say both were wearing seat belts and impairment is not suspected.

This time of year in Louisiana sees an increase of deer spotted on roadways and state officials are urging motorists to use extreme caution to avoid deer collisions. State Farm spokesman Gary Stephenson says a collision with a deer could be costly and even deadly. He says Louisiana had about 9800 deer-auto collisions in the past year ending July 1…:

Detillier calls the 2014 season the most disappointing season in the history of the franchise.

The Atlanta Falcons announced the firing of head coach Mike Smith earlier today. The Falcons finished 6-10 this season, their second consecutive losing season under Smith. In his seven years leading Atlanta, Smith lead the Falcons to the playoffs four times.

It is reported that the University of Michigan has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday to announce the hiring of former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh as their new football coach. The apparent agreement ends a nearly monthlong coaching search that included speculation that LSU head coach Les Miles would head the Wolverine program.

Louisiana Tech trounced the University of Illinois 35-18 in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl. Senior quarterback Cody Sokol threw for 247 yards and one touchdown and sophomore defensive back Xavier Woods brought an interception back 69 yards for a touchdown as the Bulldogs win their first bowl game since the 2008 Independence Bowl.

In Saturday’s Duck Commander Independence Bowl in Shreveport, the South Carolina Gamecocks held of the University of Miami Hurricanes, 24-21. This is South Carolina’s fourth straight bowl game win.

Tomorrow night, number 22 LSU faces off with Notre Dame in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl in Nashville.

In college basketball, the 17th ranked St. Johns Red Storm defeated Tulane 82-57 and Arkansas held off Northwestern State 100-92.
