A tragic story out of St. Martin Parish as two children were killed and a third child was seriously injured while walking to school this morning in Breaux Bridge. The deadly crash took place on a residential street at around 8:00 this morning. State Police trooper Jared Sandifer says it was a pick-up truck that hit the children and they are not sure what happened…

Authorities say Robert Vercher and the deputies exchanged gunfire and Vercher was hit several times. Vercher was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. The deputies have been placed on administrative leave while the incident is under investigation.

The report used DNA testing to examine 143 shrimp products and found that 30-percent were falsely labeled in 111 grocery stores and restaurants. The study also found that 40-percent of shrimp samples were species not known to be sold in the United States.
