A case of road rage has a New Iberia man is under arrest for allegedly shooting at a car he was trying to pass on Highway 182. St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Major Ginny Higgins says they got a call from a motorist that he was being tailgated by another vehicle…:

The suspect is identified as Jeroswaskie Collett, and he was charged with assault in a drive-by shooting.

Two home invasions in Terrebonne Parish over the weekend has the sheriff’s office on the hunt for two masked men for forced entry of an apartment early Sunday morning, and another one in a trailer Sunday night. In both cases, residents held the victims at gun point, while they stole items from the homes. The search continues.

A Baton Rouge star on the Discovery Channel’s “Sons of Guns” reality show has been arrested on child molestation charges. Forty-nine year-old William Hayden was released on a $150 thousand dollar bond Saturday after his arrest on Friday. Sheriff Sid Gautreau had no comment n the case, while Hayden reportely told TMZ the report was a retailiation for a break up with a girlfriend.

A Baton Rouge gun dealer who stars in the Discovery Channel show “Sons of Guns” has been booked on charges of molestation of a juvenile and aggravated crimes against nature. 49-year-old William Hayden was released on bond Saturday. Hayden told TMZ the allegations come from an ex-girlfriend as retaliation for their break-up.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating two home invasions that occurred over the weekend in Houma. The first happened early Sunday morning at an apartment complex on Monarch Drive. The second occurred Sunday evening on Star Court. Both incidents involved two masked men forcing entry into the homes, holding the victims at gunpoint, and stealing items from the homes. It is unknown if the incidents are related.

A crop duster crash in Iberia Parish has claimed the life 60-year-old Kenneth Squires of Jeanerette. Lieutenant Jeremy Kelly, with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, says a Bell 47 helicopter crashed near a cane field north of US 90 Sunday morning. Kelly says Squires was an experienced pilot…

LSU freshman running back Leonard Fournette has some lofty goals heading into the season. He told reporters at media day that he would like to rush for 1,000 yards, earn All-American Honors and be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. Fournette was available to speak with reporters yesterday for the first time since preseason camp began and he was the star of the show. Fournette says the media attention he’s receiving both locally and nationally is not bothering him…

In another bit of news out of LSU, Friday it was reported that defensive tackle Quentin Thomas would miss the season with a biceps injury, but apparently the injury is not as bad as feared and Coach Les Miles indicated they hope Thomas will return soon, maybe by the first game.

Saints Coach Sean Payton was not pleased with today’s practice as training camp has resumed at the Greenbrier in West Virginia. Payton says there were too many balls on the ground and it was one of their most flat practices. Quarterback Drew Brees is still not participating in team drills, the same can be said about wide receiver Kenny Stills and cornerback Champ Bailey. But running back Pierre Thomas was back in full pads.

ULM Football Coach Todd Berry has released a three-team depth chart and six-foot-five senior Pete Thomas is lsited as the starting quarterback. Thomas is a transfer from North Carolina State. In 2013, he made six starts for the Wolfpack, completing 60-percent of his passes for 1,667 yards and four touchdowns.

Former players and coaches who knew Matt Derenbecker shocked over his death. The two-time Louisiana Gatorade Prep Player of the Year was found dead in a pool on sunday in Ponchatoula. He was only 22 years-old. He played one season at LSU and a half-season at UNO. He was one of the nation’s top recruits coming out of Country Day.

Ponchatoula Police are investigating the death of a former LSU and UNO basketball player who was found in a friends swimming pool yesterday. Authorities do not suspect foul play in the death of 22-year-old Matt Derenbecker. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals confirms the state’s second West Nile virus death this year. Medical Director for the Office of Public Health in central Louisiana, David Holcombe, says to protect yourself from West Nile, you must protect yourself from mosquitoes…:

The first death was in Caddo Parish and this latest death was reported in the Capital Area region 2 which is around the Felicianas and West and East Baton Rouge Parish.

Gas prices kept falling over the weekend. The current statewide average for a gallon of regular in Louisiana is now $3.26 which is down almost 20 cents from this time last month.

And somebody won the Powerball Saturday night according to the Louisiana Lottery. A ticket worth $90 million was sold in Colorado. The prize goes back down to $40 million for Wednesday.

The New Orleans Police Department says they are investigating a shooting and apparent suicide that took place where four Lafayette area men were staying at the Westin on Canal Street yesterday morning after a three hour standoff with authorities. The alleged 20-year-old shooter is said to have fired at his friend in the chest. After the hours of negotiations police believe the 20-year-old shot himself. The 24-year-old shooting victim was in stable condition. The men are not being identified at this time.
