Deputies in East Baton Rouge Parish have arrested a former LSU football player for allegedly choking his girlfriend. According to a report, the victim alleges 25-year-old DeAngelo Peterson attacked her during an argument putting his hands around her neck attempting to strangle her. Peterson was booked into Parish Prison on one count of simply battery and bench warrants for speeding.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office says a man is in jail for allegedly shooting his brother over a $2 debt. Spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says they were called by the Vivian Police Department to assist in the shooting at an apartment complex Monday afternoon…

Chadwick says the victim was taking to a local hospital where he is being treated for a life threatening injury. 24-year-old Cardarrio Watson was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on a charge of aggravated second-degree battery.

Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne unveils the next round of Louisiana’s out of state “Pick Your Passion” ad campaign. In 2013 the state Department of Tourism celebrated the year of music. He says this year the ads will be all about food in The Bayou State…

A hearing date has been set in Governor Bobby Jindal’s federal lawsuit against the Obama administration over Common Core. In the suit, Jindal accuses the US Department of Education of illegally using federal money to convince states to adopt the controversial education standards. US District Judge Shelly Dick will consider the governor’s claims on November 20th.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a 40-year-old Pineville man is dead after a confrontation with officers from the Pineville Police Department. RPSO Lt. Tommy Carnline says when Pineville Police responded to a 9-1-1 call Monday morning, they were confronted by a subject brandishing a large sword. Carnline says the subject then charged toward one of the officers…

Disease had been killing many Asian farm-raised shrimp which raised the prices for American shrimpers, but that problem is going away so the price is dropping according to processors. The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office says two people are arrested accused of burglarizing an evacuated home in Bell Rose near the sinkhole. The owner of the home told deputies several air conditioners were taken, lawn benches and other items. 40-year-old Billy Rodrigue and 34-year-old Nicole Gros, both of Pierre Part, were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

She says on her Facebook page the meeting with Bob Bowcock will be before the Parish Council. According to her website, Brockovich is currently involved in water issues across the country.

A federal grand jury in Alexandria found a Las Vegas man guilty of kidnapping and murder of a 12-year-old girl. Thomas Sanders was declared dead two decades ago then resurfaced as a murder suspect in 2010 when the remains of 12-year-old Lexis Roberts were discovered in woods in Catahoula Parish. The case will now move to the penalty phase of the trial when the same jury will decide whether Sanders should be put to death or serve life in federal prison.

He say 48-year-old Herman Knockum is booked with domestic abuse aggravated assault, domestic abuse batter and driving while under a suspended license.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported William Hayden, a star on the reality television series “Sons of Guns,” has been arrested there on charges of aggravated rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile. This makes four alleged victims and three different charges of aggravated rape and one charge of indecent behavior with a juvenile. The 49-year-old faces two aggravated rape charges in East Baton Rouge Parish and an aggravated rape and an indecent behavior with a juvenile charge in Livingston Parish.

A Slidell police officer remains in critical condition after he was possibly driving drunk in a crash that killed his passenger early Sunday morning. He says a blood sample from Cole was collected for toxicology analysis…
