Forecasters are watching an area of low pressure over southern Florida that’s expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico. Andrew Ansorge, with the National Weather Service in Slidell ,says the Hurricane Center gives it a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression over the next five days

(The suspect is identified as 23-year-old Chase Chaisson of Lafayette. He will be charged with attempted 1st degree murder of a police officer, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, 2nd degree kidnapping and injury to a police K-9. The resident of the apartment where the suspect was found hiding has also been charged.)

Mouton says officers later apprehended the suspect as he was attempting to flee at an area truck stop. The 23-year-old male was taken to an area hospital. The officer is listed in stable condition. Mouton says finding the suspect was a priority as he was on the run from a prior violent incident…:

The LSU Board of Supervisors Approves a three year contract extension for Athletic Director Joe Alleva. He isn’t getting a raise, but his base salary will remain $725,000. Alleva says he loves his job…:

The Shreveport Police Department says a man they believe killed the 53-year-old Shreve Island woman this week has been captured in Mexico. Corporal Marcus Hines says 53-year-old Angela Godley was found shot to death Wednesday and her live-in boyfriend, 58-year-old Mark Colby, was on the run…:

Monroe police say a man shot his ex-wife’s boyfriend in the parking lot of a daycare center. Assistant police chief Don Bartley says 32-year-old Marlando Honeycutt had just dropped off his girlfriend’s kids at the daycare center, when Lemerick Christopher walked up and confronted Honeycutt…
