Democratic Former Governor Edwin Edwards and his runoff challenger Republican Garrett Graves have each accepted an invitation to debate each other at the Baton Rouge Press Club on November 24th in their bid for the 6th Congressional District Seat. Graves says he plans to focus on Louisiana’s future in this campaign, and Edwards contends he’s got some concerns about his challenger’s past he feels the public needs to know.

Louisiana’s 2014 tax amnesty period comes to an end in one week. Department of Revenue Deputy Secretary Jarrod Coniglio says those who are behind on their taxes with the state have until 11:59pm on November 14th to settle up and pay their debt without penalty and only half of the interest…:

The Lafayette Fire Department has confirmed a single fatality in the car they found on fire this morning inside a business. They say crews responded around 5am to Advanced Radiographics where the vehicle was ablaze. Once contained, officials reported a deceased person in the vehicle. State Police are examining the scene.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting of a woman they believe was shot by her boyfriend who then shot and killed himself. They say 35-year-old LaMarcus Ray had been in an argument with his girlfriend then allegedly fired a bullet into her leg before turning the gun on himself. The victim is recovering from non life threatening injuries. Ray died at the scene.

The LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health has been awarded a $2.2 million grant to increase the availability of health information and support services for young breast cancer survivors in the Gulf South. He says two people have come forward, so far, and they’re still trying to determine exactly how many people were approached and how much money they were offered…
