A 2.2 million dollar grant has been awarded to the LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health to increase the availability of information and support for young breast cancer survivors in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Governor Bobby Jindal’s administration made some adjustments yesterday to help stablize the state’s insurance program. The new plan will raise premiums, but it will lower out-of-pocket expenses. Before the move, the lawmakers received numerous complaints from constitiuents about it.

A two year-old toddler is dead following a tragic mid-morning house fire in Baton Rouge yesterday. Firefighters found Marques Veals body was found in the kitchen of the wood frame house. Two adults were able to get out, while the boy’s grandfather tried unsuccessfully to rescue the little boy. That fire is under investigation.

Project Coordinator Helen McMillan says the issues facing young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer under the age of 45 are much different from older breast cancer victims. A single car crash just before 7am has claimed the life of a Duson woman. State Police suspect 27 year-old Sarah Leblanc was impaired as she ran off Louisiana Highway 342, through a ditch, then crashed through a building. The vehicle then burst into flames.

No one can argue that the Tide doesn’t have the advantage at the quarterback position. Senior Blake Sims has thrown for two-thousand yards and he’s rushed for 250 yards and five scores. LSU Sports Radio Network color analyst Doug Moreau says Sims is a tough assignment for LSU…
