There has been an extremely tragic accident in New Orleans where three children and two adults died in an overnight house fire. The children were ages 6, 11 and 12. New Orleans Fire Chief Timothy McConnell says they have learned there were no working smoke alarms inside the home:

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva has sent out a written statement apologizing for fans using a “profane” chant that was directed towards Alabama Coach Nick Saban. Alleva called it crude behavior by a small minority of people. Coach Les Miles was unaware it happened at the time and didn’t like hearing that LSU fans would do that…:

Louisiana State Police say a fiery crash in Schriever yesterday afternoon has left three dead in Terrebonne Parish. An investigation revealed a Dodge driven by 19-year-old Jordan Mayon of Houma was speeding when he failed to make a curve and traveled into the opposite lane of traffic on La 24. LSP says the Dodge was hit by another vehicle with two occupants. All three were unable to escape the flames and were pronounced dead on the scene.

A cold front is currently moving through Louisiana and bringing some chilly Canadian air behind it. Marty Mayeaux, with the National Weather Service in Shreveport, says freeze warnings are in effect for five parishes along the Arkansas border tonight. He says the cold front has already moved through the Shreveport area Louisiana…:

He expects the cold front to move through southeast Louisiana sometime tonight.

As things turn cold, fire officials are urging residents to please make sure you have a working smoke detector in your home. There was a tragedy last night in New Orleans in which three children and two adults died in a blaze inside their two story home. Authorities say there were no working smoke alarms inside the home. The three children who died were age 6, 11 and 12.

A woman from White Castle is accused of setting her boyfriends car on fire after a fight last night. Firefighters say 20-year-old Erin Marie Robinson is charged with simple arson.

Louisiana State Police is investigating a fiery two vehicle crash which claimed the lives of three people in Terrebonne Parish. Trooper Evan Harrell says 19-year-old Jordan Mayon of Houma was speeding north on LA-24 when his truck missed a curve and entered the sounth bound lanes of the highway…:

He says the vehicles then burst into flames. He says Mayon and the two occupants in the other vehicle, 30-year-old Kendric Prince of Patterson and 54-year-old Shannon Tassin, all died in the blaze.

Governor Bobby Jindal has issued a statement on Veterans Day. He says every day we enjoy liberty and the ability to pursue the American Dream because of those who fought tirelessly before us to protect and preserve the values that our Founding Fathers fought for, and that we are eternally grateful.

Tommy Carnline says the friend mistaked his friend for a deer. He says this is just another incident that should remind hunters to wear clothing that clearly makes them visible to other hunters…:

A house fire in New Orleans has claimed the lives of two adults and three children and a head-on collision in Terrebonne Parish has claimed the lives of three others. No charges will be filed in a fatal shooting of a hunter in Rapides Parish. Sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Tommy Carnline says 37-year-old Michael Haynes of Alexandria was the victim of a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. He says detectives responded as well as the crime scene unit…

The New Orleans Fire Department is investigating an early morning fire that has left 5 people dead in the Broadmoor area. The victims have been identified as 77-year-old Martha Anderson; Christina Squier; and her three children 12-year-old Jade Anderson, 11-year-old Jason Anderson, and 6-year-old Jala Anderson. The father of the children made it out of the home and called authorities, but was unsuccessful in returning to the home to save his family.

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva issued a statement Monday apologizing for the profane chant some fans directed to Alabama coach Nick Saban during Saturday’s game against LSU. In the statement, Alleva says, “We are deeply sorry that such crude behavior occurred in Tiger Stadium, because that is the antithesis of what we represent at LSU.”

The Saints remain tops in the NFC South after the Philadelphia Eagles crushed the Atlanta Falcons 45-21 last night. Panther quarterback Cam Newton was sacked 9 times last night, the most allowed in team history. Former Saint Darren Sproles added a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown to help the Eagles improve to 7-2.

Lebron James and Kyrie Irving combined for 64 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Pelicans last night 118-111. The loss ends the Pels two game winning streak as the team falls to 3-3 on the season. Ryan Anderson led the Pelicans with 32 points followed by Anthony Davis’ 27. The Pels host the 1-5 Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow night.

A big matchup between two ranked FCS teams happens in Hammond Saturday afternoon. Tenth ranked Southeastern Louisiana hosts eleventh ranked McNeese State in a big Southland Conference game. The Lions are coming off a 76-7 win over Houston Baptist, while the Cowboys are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 31-16 loss to Stephen F. Austin.
