A search is underway for a missing Louisiana woman who was last seen November 4th in a wooded area in Union County Arkansas. Officials say 32-year-old Amanda McPherson of Marion had been with a friend who reported the woman went missing after he went to get help with their pickup which was stuck in the mud. Anyone with information about McPherson is urged to contact authorities.

The coldest temperatures of the fall have arrived and that could result in an increase in home fires. The American Red Cross says heating sources are the second leading cause of home fire deaths, and fatal home fires increase in the winter months. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says if you use a space heater, make sure there’s a clear area of space around it…:

Coppola says Moseley told cops she was trying to kill her fiance by running him over with the car but regrets crashing with the baby in the backseat. She is booked with attempted murder and cruelty to juveniles.

Louisiana State Police say a single vehicle accident in Prairieville has claimed the life of a Geismar man. Authorities say a car, driven by 27-year-old Cody Viator, went off the roadway, struck a culvert then went airborne and flipped. They say Viator, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

State Treasurer John Kennedy isn’t happy about Louisiana’s budget numbers. He says the state general fund is running at a historically high negative balance just four months into the fiscal year and he’s worried this could lead to another round of mid-year budget cuts…:

The state says they will review the numbers at the Revenue Estimating Conference on Friday and assure by mid-year a balanced budget will be in place.

There is a multiple agency investigation underway into the disappearance of a 32-year-old woman from Marion who was last seen in woods in Union County, Arkansas late Monday night. Officials say Amanda McPherson and a friend were reportedly driving in some woods when they became stuck. Apparently the friend with McPherson says he went to get help but when he came back, Amanda was gone. Dogs are tracking woods where she was last seen.

Baton Rouge Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman for allegedly trying to run over her fiance while their one-year-old was in the car. Authorities say during an argument, Mictissa Mosely began punching her fiance while he was driving. When the victim jumped out of the vehicle and tried to call a cab, Mosely tried to run over him. Mosely was booked for attempted second degree murder and cruelty to a juvenile.

State Treasurer John Kennedy is worried that Louisiana is spending way more than it’s bringing in which could lead to another round of mid-year budget cuts. Kennedy says changes need to be made otherwise mid-year budget cuts could do further damage to higher education. He says deficit spending needs to stop…

Kennedy says DHH just announced that we are already $171 million dollars over budget in our Medicaid program.

State climatologist Barry Keim says the cold front has now completely moved through the entire state with cool Canadian air fully settled over Louisiana. He says you can expect this cold weather to stick around tomorrow and into Friday…
