There has been an arrest made in the double murder which has rocked a small community in LaSalle Parish. 19-year-old Kylie Duncan and 76-year-old Irma Cotton were found dead Wednesday and 37-year-old Randy Waits is charged in the deaths. Cotton was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head. Duncan was also shot in the head and her throat was cut.

As part of a compromise in a lawsuit by two newspapers, LSU has released the names of three candidates considered during a presidential search the university had kept under wraps at the time. Documents released Friday include names of officials from Texas A&M, East Carolina University and the University of Alabama. LSU President F. King Alexander was eventually chosen for the job.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission reports that there was a seven percent decline in the number of fatal motorcycle crashes in 2014 compared to the prior year. Deputy Director Ken Trull says helmets are helping to reduce motorcycle deaths. He says an observational study in 2014 found that 100-percent of motorcyclists wore a helmet…:

The Ochnser Hypertension digital Medicine Program in New Orleans says they are the first in the nation to use the new Apple Watch for its patients. National investors have pulled out of a multi-million dollar bond deal for LSU says State Treasurer John Kennedy due to a possible massive cut in state funding for the university. Kennedy says LSU issued $114 million dollars in revenue and refunding bonds earlier this week. LSU sells bonds to investors to get up front money to pay for construction projects or to get a better deal on existing debt.

Bruce Jenner, the 1976 Olympic Gold medalist and Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, is going to reportedly confirm to the world tonight that he is transgender. An arrest has been made in the case of the youth softball brawl in Youngsville when a male coach punched an opposing female coach and broke her nose. Lafayette Sheriff’s deputies charged Herman Lewis for second degree battery and say there is also an obstruction of justice warrant out for his sister who is accused of lying about the whereabouts of the accused coach.

The Department of Health and Hospitals issues early reminders about the importance of taking the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your family from West Nile. In 2014, Louisiana reported 61 cases of West Nile. DHH State Epidemiologist Raoult Ratard says, when it comes to mosquitoes, this mantra will help reduce your risk for infection…

State Troopers arrested a Houston man in Calcasieu Parish after finding 24 pounds of cocaine in his vehicle. They say during a traffic stop, they discovered 35-year-old Alphonse Trahan, Jr. had a warrant out for his arrest from Texas. During a subsequent search of Trahan’s vehicle, troopers found the drugs in hidden compartments. Trahan faces multiple charges including possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

Authorities say they found 76-year-old Erma Cotton in her home in Urania dead from an apparent gunshot wound Wednesday. The body of pregnant 19-year-old Kylie King Duncan, who was working next door to Cotton’s residence, was found Thursday a few miles from Cotton’s home. Randy Eugene Waits faces two counts of first degree murder.
