The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s office says a 14-year-old student from HL Bourgeois High is under arrest accused of threatening to blow up the school two times. They say administrators got an email this morning at 7:30am which said a bomb had been placed in the school and was going to go off during the day. The same thing happened last Tuesday. The emails were traced to the teen juvenile who was charged with two counts of false communication of a bomb threat.

Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon will be facing a newly announced challenger in this year’s re-election campaign. Matt Parker, a political newcomer who works in business in West Monroe owning a car repair business, announced his candidacy in an email to reporters Monday. Parker claims Donelon is taking campaign contributions from the insurance industry which could mean higher rates for customers.

New Orleans has been able to get on this nice roll despite not having the services of Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson because of injuries. New Orleans begins action tonight, just a half game back of Oklahoma City for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

A legal battle is brewing between LSU and its former defensive coordinator John Chavis, as LSU is seeking a 400-thousand dollar contractual buyout from Chavis. Both sides have filed lawsuits and Legal Analyst Tim Meche expects this case will be settled out of court…

It was a very close vote, but a New Orleans flood protection board has decided not to abandon their appeal of the dismissal of a lawsuit of coastal erosion. The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-east filed the suit in 2013, seeking damages from oil and gas companies who built pipelines the contend caused the loss of coastal wetlands that were vital for hurricane protection.

Legal analyst Doug Sunseri say, since the couple had a history of domestic disputes, he sees a couple of scenarios….

At least not now. 65-year-old Wayne Breen was shot early Sunday morning at the couple’s Folsom-area home. Legal analyst Doug Sunseri says the DA may make the next move:

Dr.Breen was an obstetrician/gynecologist.  Detectives are working to determine if the shooting was justified. Kacie Breen called 911 around 3am and said she and her husband got into a fight and she ended up shooting him according to cops. Sunseri says the DA will likely let grand jurors decide what happens next…:

Deputies say the couple had a history of domestic issues, including reported physical violence committed by Mr. Breen.  In 2012, Mrs. Breen obtained a restraining order against him; that order has since expired. Sunseri says the DA has a couple of options…:

As officers approached, Causey threw his 17-month-old daughter to the ground, causing her to hit her head. One officer stopped and cared for the child, while the other officer chased Causey down and apprehended him. Seuzeneau says the incident was truly shocking for everyone involved…

The little girl was transported to a local hospital for her injuries. She was released to family members and will make a full recovery. Police recovered 14 bottles of stolen cologne and perfume on Causey valued at almost $1,200. Seuzeneau says Causey was booked into the Slidell City Jail… (Causey is charged with theft of goods over $1000, cruelty to juveniles, child desertion, resisting an officer by flight on foot, public intimidation, and possession of schedule II drugs.)

The Slidell Police Department says a 24-year-old Baton Rouge man is under arrest accused of robbing Ulta Beauty then throwing his 17-month-old daughter to the ground when he was confronted by cops. They say Lamar Causey then ran from officers and when he was arrested he threatened to have his people from Baton Rouge find out who the cops were and take care of them.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office says information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for a double homicide in January could be worth up to $25,000. They say 37-year-old Chad Nichols and 29-year-old Benny Booker were gunned down at a home in Donaldsonvile. Investigators believe the suspect stole Booker’s white Dodge Magnum. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $5,000 and an independent reward of $20,000 is also being offered. Anonymous calls can be made to 225-344-STOP.

LSU’s Tim Quarterman has been named the SEC men’s basketball Player of the Week. Quarterman had a triple-double in Saturday’s win over Ole Miss. The sophomore guard is only the third player in LSU to record a triple double. He had 18 points, ten rebounds and ten assists. The win gives LSU a 21-8 record and improves its chances of making the NCAA Tournament.

The Pelicans won their fifth straight last night as they defeated the Denver Nuggets 99 to 92. New Orleans remains a half game back of Oklahoma City for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Tonight the Pels are at Dallas, who is seeking its 40th win of the year. Tip-off is at 7:30.

ULM officials break ground today on a new facility that will be located behind the end zone at Malone Stadium. It will feature a new locker room, a Hall of Fame area and new coaches’ offices. Warhawks Coach Todd Berry says the facility will have an impact on their current players and recruiting…

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s office says an Alexandria man was arrested for the 87th time after an investigation into an attempted simple burglary. They say 54-year-old Jessie Swafford was out on bond at the time of his 87th arrest from a felony theft charge pending in court.
