The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s office says the wife of a doctor who admitted to shooting and killing her husband during an argument has not been charged in his death. At least not now. 65-year-old Wayne Breen was shot early Sunday morning at the couple’s Folsom-area home. Legal analyst Doug Sunseri says the DA may make the next move:

LSU and its former defensive coordinator John Chavis are in a legal battle. The two sides filed lawsuits against each other. The University claims Chavis owes $400,000 in buyout money but the now Texas A&M DC says he took the right steps when he left to avoid having to pay the buyout. Legal analyst Tim Meche says where the case will be heard, Texas or Louisiana, is going to be the biggest battle here…:

Meche believes this will be settled out of court because it’s not in the interest of either football program to have to go through a deposition.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s office has released additional information about the shooting death of a gynecologist apparently had the hands of his wife during an argument. They say Dr. Wayne Breen and Kacie Breen had a history of domestic issues including physical violence committed by Mr. Breen. Detectives are working to determine if the shooting was justified but no charges are filed at this time.

The Slidell Police Department says a 24-year-old Baton Rouge man is under arrest accused of robbing Ulta Beauty then throwing his 17-month-old daughter to the ground when he was confronted by cops. They say Lamar Causey then ran from officers and when he was arrested he threatened to have his people from Baton Rouge find out who the cops were and take care of them.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office says information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for a double homicide in January could be worth up to $25,000. They say 37-year-old Chad Nichols and 29-year-old Benny Booker were gunned down at a home in Donaldsonvile. Investigators believe the suspect stole Booker’s white Dodge Magnum. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $5,000 and an independent reward of $20,000 is also being offered. Anonymous calls can be made to 225-344-STOP.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s office says an ATV crash over the weekend in Central claimed the life of a 6-year-old little boy and sent another child to a hospital. They say a group was riding on the four wheeler when the adult driver lost control and the vehicle flipped.

A group of lawmakers and stakeholders in the movie industry will look at a way to improve the state’s film tax credit program this week as the Louisiana-shot blockbuster “Focus” opened Friday night. New Orleans Senator JP Morrell says they aren’t trying to ditch the program but there are issues with it that need to be addressed…:

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s office says a woman admitted to shooting and killing her husband, a Covington area physician, after the two got into a heated argument over the weekend. There have been no arrests in the death of Dr. Wayne Breen but the investigation is ongoing.

As a way to help reduce cuts to higher education, The Jindal administration proposes higher fees to attend public college, but provide a tax credit to offset those costs, which would be paid for by raising the cigarette tax. But Chairman of the Republican House Delegation, state Representative Lance Harris of Alexandria doesn’t like the idea of a cigarette tax…

He says there is currently no law that levies penalties for not taking the tests, but that’s not what he’s hearing from school districts…

State Police say a single vehicle fatal crash in St. Landry Parish has killed an Opelousas man. Authorities say 32-year-old Reginald Jenkins drove off of the road while entering a curve, drove through a wooden fence, and struck a storage building. The car continued traveling and ended up overturned in a shallow canal. Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

In their budget proposal, the Jindal administration is willing to scale back 526-million dollars in tax credits for businesses. The governor has highlighted 12 tax credits that could become non-refundable which would give the state more money to spend. But the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, Amite representative John Bel Edwards, says legislators should look beyond those tax credits as a way to raise revenue…

Chairman of the Republican House Delegation, state Representative Lance Harris of Alexandria is disappointed the governor didn’t suggest reeling back some of the film tax credits.

Some state lawmakers are looking at ways we can improve the state’s film tax credits. New Orleans Senator JP Morrell says they don’t want to lose the fact that Louisiana has become an industry film leader, but there are things that must be done to restore taxpayer confidence in the film tax credit program…
