The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s office says a 52-year-old man is under arrest after he was caught taking pictures of a woman who was in a fitting room at a department store. They say Aaron Merrit is charged with one count of video voyeurism. Investigators say the woman saw Merrit taking pictures of her as she was undressing then she contacted authorities. A tip to Crime Stoppers is how they were able to identify the suspect.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission says the number of people employed in mining and logging, which includes the oil sector, is at its lowest level since December 2005. But LWC Executive Director Curt Eysink says overall, Louisiana added more jobs than in the prior year because of an industrial construction boom happening across south Louisiana. He says the state has nearly 25-thousand more workers than in August 2014…:

There are 46-thousand people employed in the oil sector of the state’s economy, a decline of 78-hundred over the last year. Eysink says you can blame the low price of oil and they are going to watch closely how that impacts the workforce if crude remains so depressed.

State Police say an early morning crash in Catahoula Parish claimed the life of a Wisner man. They believe 31-year-old Joe Graves III was speeding on Highway 913 when he ran off the road and crashed into a large tree. Investigators found Graves III was not wearing a seat belt and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says an officer involved shooting in Slidell has left one dead. They say 46-year-old Lucien Rolland led authorities on a high speed chase and fired shots at police vehicles. Once Rolland’s vehicle was disabled, he emerged and challenged officers with a semi-automatic handgun. That’s when officers fired. Rolland was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Today’s gubernatorial debate hosted by the Baton Rouge Press Club will feature three of the four major candidates. Senator David Vitter will not attend. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says even though Vitter is missing today’s forum, he has enough money to get his message out through TV commercials…

State Police say a weekend traffic stop in Ouachita Parish resulted in the seizure of 10 pounds of marijuana. When troopers pulled over 25-year-old Michael Wilson for a traffic violation, he appeared to be nervous and shaky. The troopers obtained permission to search his vehicle and that’s when they found the marijuana in the trunk. Wilson and his passenger, 24-year-old Steven Degrate, are charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to distribute.

A disturbing story out of Livingston Parish finds 56-year-old Minton Morris and 52-year-old Nina Morris in jail after they allegedly produced pornography involving bestiality. The US House of Representatives passed two abortion related bills Friday. The actions come on the heels of Planned Parenthood’s alleged use fetal tissue. One measure would freeze government funding for the organization for a year. Another would establish criminal penalties on medical personnel who do not try to save a baby if an abortion fails.
