A 93-year-old former Catholic priest and admitted serial child molester, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and raping a boy in the 1970s.  Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams says Lawrence Hecker’s victim, who was assaulted in a church bell tower converted into a weightlifting room, had reported the attack to his school principal, who failed to inform authorities.

In Opelousas, a mother turned herself into St. Landry Parish authorities Monday, telling deputies at the parish jail that she physically and sexually abused her children, both under the age of 4 years, citing extreme stress stemming from a divorce. There were no outstanding arrest warrants for 31-year-old Keirsten White but with her cooperation, detectives determined the extent of the criminal activity. White has been charged with indecent behavior with juveniles, first degree rape, sexual battery, and cruelty to juveniles.

This process replenishes nutrients, improves water quality, and mitigates subsidence by restoring natural sediment deposition. Karst says the reintroduction aims to counteract decades of wetland loss and create a healthier environment for native species.

LSU has lost another five-star commitment from its 2025 recruiting class. Earlier today, Kade Phillips decommitted from LSU and now plans on playing for Texas. With the legislature passing a comprehensive tax reform package, some aspects will require voter approval, and that will happen in March. Andrew Greenstein reports.

There are four constitutional amendments on this Saturday’s ballot and polls will be open from 7 AM to 8 PM. Amendment Two asks voters if there should be a mandatory 48-hour waiting period before lawmakers take a final vote on any appropriation bills.

A 93-year-old former Catholic priest pleads guilty to all counts in his long-delayed rape trial. Lawrence Hecker admitted to suffocating a teenage boy until he was unconscious and raping him in a New Orleans church back in 1975. Hecker had previously confessed to molesting several boys in the 1960s and 1970s. Hecker will be sentenced later this month.
