When you look at the seeds, the Fighting Tigers are the favorite in the Super Regional series. LSU is a national two seed in the NCAA Tournament, while the Ragin Cajuns were a three-seed in the Houston Regional. Coach Paul Mainieri says seeds don’t mean anything at this point, and they learned that lesson when Stony Brook, a fourth-seed, beat the Tigers in the Super Regionals in 2012…

Mainieri has decided to send freshman Alex Lange to the mound for game one. Lange is 11-and-0 with a 1.76 ERA. No word on who will start game two for the Tigers.

UL Lafayette could start Gunner Leger in game. The freshman is 6-and-4 with 2.87 ERA.

At Saints OTA, Coach Sean Payton talked about a simpler approach on defense. Payton says they are doing it to improve execution and reduce variables. Payton says it’s something they have to do, after giving up several big plays last season.

Also at Saints OTA, running back Mark Ingram didn’t participate. Payton says he’s resting a minor foot-slash-ankle injury.

Former LSU Tiger Trindon Holliday has signed with the Oakland Raiders. Holliday played for three different teams in 2014, before he was released by San Francisco 49ers.

The LSU men’s golf team returned to Baton Rouge today after winning the program’s first national title in 60 years. The Tigers defeated USC in match-play to claim the championship trophy. Ben Taylor’s nine-foot par putt on 18 wrapped up LSU’s first men’s golf championship since 1955.

The R-and-L Carriers New Orleans Bowl is returning to a primetime kickoff. The game this year will be played on Saturday, December 19th at 8 PM in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Last year’s game, which featured the Ragin Cajuns for a third consecutive year, kicked-off at 10 A-M.

A woman from Lafayette is under arrest for 2nd degree murder, after a man discovered a dead baby’s body in a box from a storage unit he purchased. Lafayette Police say fifty-seven year-old Rebecca Landry confessed to the crime, saying the infant died in 2001. Landry is being booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail.

She says a lowered tax credit cap will limit the ability for increased film production in the state. Lafayette Representative Joel Robideaux’s bill also featured a provision that would provide incentives to build an indigenous film industry in Louisiana. McConnell says that part of the measure was completely gutted…

McConnell says, at this point, this is not a very promising piece of legislation for the film industry on many levels. She says this bill was designed to grow Louisiana businesses and put Louisiana residents to work. Vermilion Parish narcotics agents arrested four people and rescued two babies after discovering a meth lab at an Abbeville home. When arriving at the home of Jody and Kimberly Wooten, authorities noticed a smell they immediately related to methamphetamine production. Agents discovered a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old inside the home and removed them. The Wootens and two others, Sondra Evans and Brittney Adkins, were arrested on drug charges.

State Revenue Secretary Tim Barfield says there’s a greater possibility Governor Jindal will veto the budget, if a tax credit for higher education is NOT approved by the legislature. Barfield says the SAVE tax credit is needed to offset the revenue generating tax bills already approved by the House. The measure failed on a 10-9 vote in the House Ways and Means Committee, but was revived, when it was added to three different bills approved by the Senate Finance Committee.

Legislation that would put spending restrictions on the TOPS scholarship program is headed to Governor Bobby Jindal’s desk. The Governor’s office is not saying whether or not the measure will get the veto pen although they have expressed objection to major changes to the TOPS scholarship program in the past.

The report also says there are some national candidates as well.

Grambling State University has narrowed its Presidential search down to two candidates. It will either be Gilbert Rochon, who serves on the President’s Council at UNO, or Willie Larkin, who works as chief of staff for the President of Morgan State University. The final interviews are taking place at this hour and a new president of GSU will be announced this afternoon.

A deputy with the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office is under arrest after being found with a large amount of marijuana in his vehicle. State Police Sgt. James Anderson says investigators searched the truck of 28-year-old Derek Nothnagel of Lake Charles and ended up finding about 18 pounds of marijuana in a duffle bag. He says Nothnagel faces numerous charges…

The report stated the investigation by the LANG and US Special Operations Command determined “spatial disorientation of both pilots caused them to lose control of the aircraft.

The state Department of Ag and Forestry says an avian bird flu brought in from Asia has claimed the lives of millions and millions of birds including hens which has caused an egg shortage. Commissioner Mike Strain says the price of shell eggs at the grocery store has nearly doubled since April. He believes these higher prices will stick around for about the next 6 months, but we’re not going to run out of eggs…:

He says officials are working on a vaccine for this type of influenza.

The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office says four people are under arrest and two babies are now safe after a meth lab was discovered at a home in Abbeville near a school. Investigators arrived on the scene and noticed a strong smell clearly of meth production. A 2 year old and 1 year old were removed from the residence. The four face drug charges and more are pending.
