Cook Political Report publisher Charlie Cook predicts races all around the country and he has Democrat John Bel Edwards as a slight favorite to beat Republican David Vitter on November 21st. Cooks says polls show Vitter losing the race as he’s unpopular with women voters because of his past prostitution scandal.

Lawyers for Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson and his estranged heirs have agreed to mediation over Benson’s lawsuit to remove them as future owners of the teams. Legal analyst Tim Meche believes this is a sign that Judge Jane Triche Milazzo indicated to Benson’s lawyers they would not win the case if it went to trial…:

After a tough loss last week to Alabama, ninth ranked LSU returns to the football field tonight to Arkansas. LSU is 27-and-2 under Coach Les Miles in games following a loss. But last year, The Tigers lost to Arkansas a week after falling to Alabama. Kickoff tonight is at 6:15.

The first round of the high school playoffs got underway last night and there was a big upset in Monroe as Live Oak, the 25th seed in Class Five-A, defeated 8th seeded Ouachita Parish 33-28. In Four-A…25th seeded Loranger beat Lakeshore 43 to 30. In 3-A…25th seeded Winnfield edged out eighth seeded South Beauregard 35 to 34. 21st seeded Iowa over 12th seeded Erath 54 to 48 and 19th seeded Bogalusa beat 14th seeded Union Parish 34-29.

In college football tonight…ninth ranked LSU will host Arkansas. Where will the Tigers be emotionally after losing to Alabama 30 to 16 last week. The Razorbacks come into Tiger Stadium riding a three-game winning streak as they are getting good play from quarterback Brandon Allen.

In Monroe…ULM will look to end a seven-game losing streak by playing the best team in the Sun Belt, Arkansas State. Kickoff is at 2 PM.

In the Southland Conference today…Northwestern State looks for its fourth win of the season overall and in conference when travel to Hunstville to take on Sam Houston state. Nicholls State hosts Central Arkansas. The Colonels are coming off a 30-28 win at Lamar. And Southeastern Louisiana will look to get past a 16-2 loss to Incarnat e Word when they visit Abilent Christian tonight. In the SWAC….Grambling can clinch a spot in the league title game with a win at Arkansas Pine Bluff. While Southern takes on Alabama A-and-M in the final game of the year at Mumford Stadium.

The college basketball season got underway last night and LSU beat McNeese State 81-70. Ben Simmons had 11 points and 13 rebounds, and fellow freshmen Antonio Blakeney had 22 points, while Brandon Sampson chipped in with 18 points.

Elsewhere…ULM thumped McMurry 88 to 43 for the largest win to begin a season in school history…Ole Miss dribbled past Northwestern State 90 to 76, Louisiana Tech trounced Millsaps. And the Cajuns won easily over Louisiana college.

And in the NBA…Toronto over the Pelicans 100 to 81.

One of the latest campaign commercials in the governor’s race features Republican David Vitter and Duck Dynasty reality TV star Willie Robertson. Robertston says he knows Vitter has made some mistakes, but who hasn’t, referring to the Senator’s prostitution scandal. ULM political science professor Joshua Stockley says the timing of this commercial won’t work for Vitter…

Meanwhile Governor Bobby Jindal says he will not make an endorsement in the race. The republican presidential candidate says the public doesn’t care much about one politician endorsing another.

State Treasurer John Kennedy, who is a republican, went on the Moon Griffon Radio Show today and urged fellow republican Scott Angelle to endorse Vitter in the governor’s race. Angelle finished third, just behind Vitter in the gubernatorial campaign.

It should be a little chilly inside Tiger Stadium tomorrow night for LSU’s home game against Arkansas. The Tigers are looking to rebound from last week’s 30-16 loss to Alabama. Arkansas is playing its best football of the season as they’ve scored 170 points over the last three games. Kick-off is at 6:15.

In other action on Saturday…ULM hosts Arkansas State and Nicholls State will take on Central Arkansas in Thibodaux.

The 2015-16 college basketball season tips off tonight for the Tigers. There’s high expectations for the Bayou Bengals this year, because of freshman of the year candidate Ben Simmons. Junior quarter Tim Quarterman says they’re ready to meet those expectations…

For Sunday’s Saints game in Washington…linebackers Dannell Ellerbe, David Hawthorne, Ramon Humber and cornerback Damian Swann have been ruled out for the contest against the Redskins. Linebacker Hau’oli Kikaha is probable, while offensive tackle Terron Armstead is questionable, but he has not practiced all week. The last two games, the Saints have allowed 86 points. Defensive end Cam Jordan says they need to get more pressure on the quarterback….

And former LSU and Saints star and now color analyst on the Saints radio network, Hokie Gajan, says he’s been diagnosed with cancer. Gajan says he feels fine and he’ll go to Houston next week for more tests to determine the type of cancer.

Governor Jindal will reportedly not endorse a candidate in the runoff. The Republican Presidential candidate said voters can make up their own minds without him announcing who he is backing. A recent UNO poll of likely voters in Louisiana showed Jindal had a 70 percent disapproval rating, so analysts say it’s not likely his endorsement would have helped either candidate.

In the 2015 University of New Orleans Louisiana Gubernatorial Runoff survey, polls show Republican Billy Nungesser in a 10 point lead over Democrat Kip Holden in the Lt. Governor’s race. Ed Chervenak, director of the UNO Survey Research Center, says, unlike the governor’s race, the Lt. Governor’s election is running on race and partisanship..:

The poll of 600 likely voters was conducted between November 2nd-8th.

A three hour standoff between authorities and an armed man on a boat in Larose ended early this afternoon. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Brennan Matherne says they got a report of a man trespassing on a boat and when deputies arrived, the saw the man was armed and they later moved in to take him into custody after he fired a gun into the air. They believe 44-year-old Daniel Boudreaux was trying to rob the boat…:

The two candidates for governor met today in Baton Rouge in the third gubernatorial runoff forum prior to Election Day November 21st. Today’s face-off was hosted by Together Louisiana, group of churchgoers and members of civic organizations dedicated to addressing socio-ecomonic issues. The 2015 gubernatorial poll by UNO showed Democrat John Bel Edwards with a 22 point lead over Republican David Vitter. Pollster Ed Chervenak says nearly half of people who voted for the other two GOP candidates in the primary, said they would push the button for Edwards next Saturday…:

State Police say a motorcyclist was killed in Ouachita Parish this morning after he struck a vehicle who pulled out in front of him. They say a Tahoe driven by 57-year-old Cindy Self of West Monroe took a left turn into the path of 52-year-old Robert Becker of Columbia’s Harley. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The trespasser who barricaded himself on a vessel docked along the Intracoastal Canal in Larose, surrendered peacefully and has been taken into the custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. Spokesperson Brennan Matherne says when they arrived on scene they tried to negotiate with 44-year-old Daniel Boudreaux but he had a shot gun and he fired into the air…:

Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson of West Monroe appears in the latest campaign ad for Republican gubernatorial candidate David Vitter. The commercial continues Vitter’s theme of redemption from his prostitution scandal with Robertson stating, “I know he’s made some mistakes, but who hasn’t?” ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley says fans of this reality show are probably going to vote for Vitter anyway…:

With the prostitution scandal on the top of voters minds, Stockley believes the Vitter campaign has bigger fish to fry.

State Treasurer John Kennedy said on the Moon Griffon radio show that Republican Scott Angelle should break his silence and tell voters who he’s endorsing in the governor’s race. He feels Angelle needs to say he’s backing Vitter to prove he’s a real conservative.

Matherne says negotiators continued to talk to Boudreaux until he shot one round into the air from the boat. He says after the shot, the tactical team moved in as Boudreaux began to flee on foot from his position on the boat.

Matherne says the suspect was not armed when he entered the vessel, the weapon was already on the boat. He says Boudreaux had no connection to the boat and it is likely he could become a suspect of a burglary because some of the items on board are missing.

As the city of New Orleans mourns the loss music legend Allen Toussaint, a group on Facebook as formed a campaign seeking to rename Lee Circle in honor of the jazz great. The suggestion comes as a push is being made to relocate confederate statues around the city from their prominent locations. An online petition already has over 2,000 signatures.

Meanwhile the campaign for Vitter’s opponent, Democrat John Bel Edwards, announces the Representative from Amite has the backing of The Louisiana State Troopers Association. The Executive Director, David Young, says it’s rare for State Troopers to endorse candidates, but it was appropriate in the runoff because Edwards views on public safety align with theirs.

The low-cost Spirit Airlines non-stop flight from New Orleans to Las Vegas is now available to customers as of today. Officials with the airline also announced they will begin offering nonstop flights to Los Angeles next spring.
