In Shreveport, a manhunt is underway for a man who is believed to have fatally shot a Shreveport Police Officer last night. A police department spokesperson says the officer was responding to a call about a suspicious person threatening people inside a home when the suspect opened fire, hitting one officer multiple times. The officer was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities believe they know the identity of the shooter.

Even though Governor Bobby Jindal didn’t make it to tonight’s prime time debate, his face will still be seen on Iowa television during the telecast. Jeff Palermo has more….

A Shreveport Police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty last night. A police department spokesperson says the officer was responding to a call about a prowler suspect when someone opened fire. The officer was hit several time. He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities believe they know the identity of the suspect and are searching for the gunman.

Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Jindal can’t compete with the front-runners right now so he is spending a lot of time in Iowa. The LSU Tigers begin fall practice today and head coach Les Miles says quarterback is the one position most unsettled. Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris will spend the next month competing to be the starting QB when the Tigers kick-off the season on September fifth against McNeese State. Miles says there’s enough talent around the quarterback position for that person to succeed…

Cornerback Tre’Davious White has been selected to wear the coveted number 18 for LSU this season. The junior from Shreveport received the honor last night. For the past decade, jersey number 18 has been worn by a team member that best exemplifies what it means to be an LSU football player, both on and off the field.

The Miami Herald reports that the Pelicans are expected to take on the Miami Heat in one of the NBA’s showcase matchups on Christmas Day. The paper says a leaked version of the upcoming league schedule tentatively has the Pels traveling to South Beach for a noon tipoff. The NBA is expected to release its 2015-16 regular season schedule next week.

ULM has released their 2015-16 men’s basketball schedule. The Warhawks 11 game non-conference schedule sees the team hitting the road to take on Minnesota, Northwestern State, Houston, Penn State and West Virginia. ULM will kick their season off November 13 when they host McMurry University at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The Warhawks returns four starters from last year’s team that went 24-14.

Saints training camp continues in West Virginia with safety Jairus Byrd still on the physically unable to perform list. It’s presumed that Byrd is still rehabbing a knee injury that ended his season after just four games last year. Coach Sean Payton says Byrd is progressing well and he’ll be back on the field, sooner rather than later.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, a 23-year-old man was arrested after driving through two fences and on to the runway at the Louis Armstrong airport in New Orleans. Colonel John Fortunato says they sent officers to the scene after receiving a 911 call that there was a vehicle on a live runway.

Jefferson Parish Deputies they found the abandoned blue Challenger on the runway just after 1pm this afternoon, but did eventually find twenty-three years old Kaleb Clement, and booked him with hit and run driving and DWI.

A suspected drunk driver has struck and killed a pedestrian on LA 42 in Ascension Parish last night. State Trooper Bryan Lee says 41-year-old J Thomas Bowers was traveling eastbound on the road and failed to stop as Richard Billingsley was attempting to push a disabled vehicle off the road.
