Fresh off his primary win in New Hampshire, Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump will hold a rally tonight at the Baton Rouge River Center. The doors open tonight at 5pm, and the rally starts at 7. This event is free and open to the public. Analysists say the Trump campaign is working to gain support in southern states. The Louisiana Presidential Primary election is March 5th.

Louisiana State Police is partnering with Blue Cross to help with the safe disposal of prescription medication. Trooper Michael Reichardt says in the front of the Troop F station in Monroe they’ve set out a box for people to safely discard old or unwanted medication. He says the abuse of prescription medication in teens has become a growing problem…

Reichardt says drop boxes are outside of Troop E and F stations in Monroe and Alexandria.

Louisiana Researchers have played a role in detecting gravitational waves, which Albert Einstein predicted would occur as part of his general theory of relativity. An observatory in Livingston Parish observed the ripples in the fabric of spacetime on September 14th.

The Pelicans played with heavy hearts last night as they ended Utah’s seven-game winning streak by beating the Jazz 100-96. Jrue Holiday came off the bench to score 21 points, and Anthony Davis added 19 points.

Before the game, the Pelicans learned that their former had coach Monty Williams, lost his wife in a car accident. 44-year-old Ingrid Williams was involved in a wreck near downtown Oklahoma City and the driver of the other car was also killed.

Williams was hired as the Pelcians head coach in 2010 and was fired after last season, despite leading New Orleans to the postseason. Williams is currently an assistant coach at Oklahoma City and that’s where the Pels are tonight. They’ll play the Thunder in their final game before the All-Star break.

LSU got 20 points from Ben Simmons last night but it wasn’t enough as they lost to South Carolina 94-83. The Tigers gave up 55 points in the 2nd half.

The Ragin Cajuns put their eight game winning streak on the line tonight when they host Arkansas State at the Cajundome. UL Lafayette is also undefeated at home and Coach Bob Marlin hopes their winning ways in front of the Cajun fans continues…

The Cajuns are 9-3 in league play, two games behind Sun Belt leader Arkansas Little Rock. The Trojans are at ULM tonight. The Warhawks are undefeated at home this season and fans are encouraged to wear white as they’ll be having a “White Out” inside the Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Also tonight…UNO is at McNeese State, while Louisiana Tech hosts Middle Tennessee. Tech is tied for fourth in the Conference USA standings after suffering a tough loss last Saturday to North Texas.

The wife of former New Orleans Pelicans coach Monty Williams died after being involved in a crash in Oklahoma City. Authorities say a woman crossed the center line of a road and struck the vehicle driven by 44-year-old Ingrid Williams. The driver of the other car was killed, and Williams succumbed to her injuries Wednesday evening. Monty Williams was the Pelicans head coach for five seasons, and currently serves as an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He an Ingrid Williams have five children.

A rare televised address to the public by a Louisiana governor will air live tonight at 6:30pm. The Revenue Estimating Conference issued a projection Wednesday indicating the state is looking at about an $850 million dollar shortfall in the current year, and about $2 billion for the budget that begins July 1st. UL Lafayette political science professor Pearson Cross says Governor John Bel Edwards and lawmakers have a tough road ahead…:

A bill that would let Louisiana citizens conceal carry a gun without a permit is set to be taken up in the regular legislative session. Baton Rouge Representative Barry Ivey has brought similar legislation in the past that didn’t get much discussion, but he feels there’s a better shot this year..:

New Orleans Pelicans owners Tom and Gayle Benson issued a statement in response to the death of the wife of former Pels coach Monty Williams. 44-year-old Ingrid Williams died after being involved in a car crash in Oklahoma City. The Bensons say Ingrid will be remembered as one of the most generous, kind and humble individuals they’ve ever known. Monty Williams was the coach of the Pelicans for five seasons. He and Ingrid have five children.

Authorities say a man in Jefferson Parish was killed and another injured after an ambulance on a mechanic’s rack fell on top of them. The investigation is ongoing.

The man arrested at his California home last month claims they’ve got the wrong guy.

A Baton Rouge lawmaker has filed a bill for the regular session that seeks to change the state constitution to allow Louisiana residents to possess a concealed handgun without needing a permit. Republican State Representative Barry Ivey says that this law would apply only to non-felon residents.

Current Louisiana law allows residents 21 and over to carry a non-concealed handgun without a permit. A concealed carry permit requires completion of a safety course and payment of a $125 fee for a 5 year permit. Ivey attempted to pass a similar bill to stop requiring a permit in 2014 but was unsuccessful. He says this time he has a much better chance.
