The LaFourche Parish Sheriff’s office has arrested a woman after she allegedly falsely reported a murder and then stole a deputy’s patrol car. Deputies say 34-year-old Loralyn Boudreaux of Thibodaux told officers there was a homicide in a home and the suspect was still inside. When deputies went to investigate, Boudreaux drove off in the patrol car, but she was located about a mile and a half away and arrested on several charges.

Louisiana Tech is looking to snap a two-game losing streak this afternoon as they host F-I-U. The Bulldogs are averaging aboug 540 yards in total offense, which leads Conference USA. The Panthers, who are 2-and-1, lead the league in total defense, allowing 314 yards a game.

U-L Lafayette is home to take on Akron tonight. Brooks Haack is expected to make his third consecutive start at quarterback.

Elsewhere…Nicholls State is at Colorado. Northwestern State looks for its first win of the year as they host Central Arkansas. McNeese State matches up with Mississippi College. Grambling takes on Prairie View at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and Southern faces on Georgia.

Bress sustained the injury in last week’s loss to Tampa Bay and Coach Sean Payton says it did not recover enough for him to play against the Panthers…

The latest campaign finance numbers in the Louisiana’s governor’s race shows Republican David Vitter still has the most cash on hand with $4 million. Republican Jay Dardenne reports $1.6 million, Democrat John Bel Edwards has $1.4 million, and Republican Scott Angelle has about $1 million. LaPolitics-dot-com Publisher Jeremy Alford says, when you throw in cash from a pro-Vitter Super PAC, the senator has over $7 million available…

He says Super PAC money matters quite a bit as we enter the final four weeks of the campaign. Alford says, although Vitter dwarfs his competitors in the amount of cash on hand, it doesn’t mean they can’t compete…

US House Speaker John Boehner surprisingly announced his resignation Friday which means Majority Whip Steve Scalise, of Jefferson, could be declared the candidate for the No. 2 spot which is majority leader. Majority Whip is the third highest position in the leadership hierarchy and if House Republicans elect Scalise to be their leader, he’d be the highest ranking Louisiana member of Congress since the early 70s.

Payton said there was some progress made by Number 9 throughout the week, but his shoulder is still not where it needs to be. This is the first time Brees has missed a game in a Saints uniform due to an injury.
