Super Bowl 59 is in the books. Mark Romig, the chief marketing officer of New Orleans and Company, says New Orleans literally welcomed the world to the city.

Romig says New Orleans will be bidding to host another Super Bowl, but the earliest that can happen is 2030. The next three Super Bowls will be in Santa Clara, Los Angeles and Atlanta, and the 2029 Super Bowl would coincide with Mardi Gras.

As for the game itself, the Philadelphia Eagles thoroughly dominated the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, to win their second Super Bowl in franchise history. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley celebrated a birthday yesterday by winning a title…

Kenner Police have uncovered additional evidence linking Danette Colbert of Slidell to the suspicious death of Kansas City sports reporter Adan Manzano. Manzano was found unresponsive in a Kenner hotel room and later pronounced dead. Police Chief Keith Conley says they seized three cell phones.

Security footage from Project NOLA shows Colbert with Manzano together in the Quarter and later leaving his hotel room alone. Pending further investigation and toxicology results, charges could be upgraded to homicide. Those tests could take several weeks.

A murder-suicide in Lafayette, and police there say the couple’s two children were present at the time. Corporal Ashley Wood says they exited the SUV, and one of them flagged down a passing driver for help.

The Eagles defense put together one of the greatest Super Bowl performances of all time as they kept Kansas City out of the end zone until late in the third quarter in a 40 to 22 win over the Chiefs. Former Saint Zack Baun returned to his old stomping grounds and intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass late in the 2nd quarter to set up a touchdown that put the Eagles up 24-nothing at halftime.

Mahomes threw another interception that was returned for a touchdown. The man behind the Eagles game plan is defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Fangio was the Saints linebackers coach for the famed Dome Patrol in the 1980s and 1990s. It was Fangio’s first Super Bowl title as a coordinator.

Philadelphia offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is expected to be the next Saints head coach. It’s unclear when an official announcement will take place. Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni wants Moore to stay and be part of the repeat effort, but Moore is still expected to take the Saints head coaching job.

Kailyn Gilbert scored 23 points as the LSU women’s basketball team defeated Tennessee for a second time this season, beating the Lady Vols 89 to 87. Gilbert entered the game in a shooting slump, making only eight of her last 53 shots. Gilbert says the extra time she spent in the gym paid off…

The Lady Tigers are now 10-and-1 in SEC Play, tied for first place with South Carolina and Texas. Texas beat South Carolina yesterday, ending the Gamecocks 57-game SEC winning streak. LSU will visit Texas on Sunday.

Tonight…Nicholls, who has won four in a row, will host Northwestern State at 6:30.

The Pelicans are at Oklahoma City tonight in the biggest mismatch of the night in the NBA.

Louisiana Tech 2025 football schedule is out. First conference game is September 13th as the Bulldogs will host New Mexico State.

Lafayette Police say a murder-suicide happened on Johnston Street last night and the couple’s two children were present in the vehicle.  Corporal Ashley Wood says the two victims from New Iberia were found in a white SUV, 47-year-old Shentell Brown and her husband 60-year-old Kevin Brown

Wood says she died from her wounds and then Brown turns the gun on himself.

It was quite a performance for Super Bowl 59 champions Philadelphia Eagles and Mark Romig, the chief marketing officer of New Orleans and Company says the city has gotten great feedback on its performance in Super Bowl 59.

Louisiana was represented well on the field Sunday. A former Saint, Zack Baun returned to New Orleans as a Philadelphia Eagle and intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass late in the 2nd quarter to set up a touchdown that put the Eagles up 24-nothing at halftime. Baun a former special teams player with the Saints, blossomed with the Eagles, earning Pro Bowl honors. He says he’s going to take time to decompress and reflect on the breakout season he had.

DeVonta Smith from Amite High School caught a 46-yard touchdown pass in the 3rd quarter that put the game away. And former Louisiana Tech Bulldog Milton Williams forced a fumble when he sacked Patrick Mahomes in the 4th quarter and recovered that fumble.

More people have come forward to Kenner police claiming Danette Colbert, the woman linked to the suspicious death of Kansas City sports reporter Adan Manzano, also victimized them. Police Chief Keith Conley says they seized three cell phones one possibly belonging to Manzano and Conley says Pending toxicology results, charges could be upgraded to homicide.

Lafayette Police say a murder-suicide happened last night and the couple’s two children were present in the vehicle.  Corporal Ashley Wood says, 47-year-old Shentell Brown died after being shot multiple times by her husband 60-year-old Kevin Brown and then Kevin Brown turned the gun on himself.

Two children in the backseat exited the vehicle; one flagged down a passing motorist for help.

The Eagles dethroned the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, to win Super Bowl LIX. It was an especially big game for Eagles players with Louisiana ties. With the Saints, Baun was used almost exclusively on special teams. He blossomed with the Eagles, earning Pro Bowl honors and was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.

During Kendric Lamar’s halftime show, security personnel ran onto the field and tackled a man who was running around holding up a Sudanese-Palestinian flag. “Sudan” and “Gaza” were written on it. The NFL says the person detained was one of Lamar’s performers, but no one involved with the production knew that this individual would do this. The NFL is not pressing charged but he has now been banned from any future involvement with Super Bowl events.

Chief Keith Conley says three cell phones were seized, and one is believed to be the victims. Conley says more potential victims of Colbert have contacted Kenner PD claiming Colbert victimized them.

Corporal Ashley Wood says they were from New Iberia. The two children in the backseat at the time of the shooting one flagged down a passing motorist for help.

Louisiana death penalty sentences may soon be carried out. A statement released by the Governor’s office says updated protocols including the use of the recently approved nitrogen hypoxia method have been finalized.  Governor Jeff Landry said, “The time forbroken promises has ended; we will carry out these sentences and justice will be dispensed.” He called on DAs to finalize cases that have already been reviewed and them quickly through the courts.

The state department of education is gearing up for the L-A Gator Scholarship program. The new school choice program that will provide education scholarship accounts, will begin accepting applications on March 1st. Germain Gilson, the assistant superintendent of school choice, says families can use the money to customize their children’s education.

Now we wait and see if Kellen Moore will be named the new head coach of the Saints. Reports indicated that the Eagles offensive coordinator was the team’s choice to be their new head coach.

The fifth ranked LSU women’s basketball team is now in a three-way tie for first place in the Southeastern Conference after beating Tennessee for a second time this season. 82 to 77 was the final score yesterday in the PMAC. The Lady Tigers improve to 10-and-1 in the SEC and are tied with Texas and South Carolina. The Longhorns defeated the Gamecocks yesterday and LSU visits Texas this Sunday.

In men’s hoops, LSU’s season went from bad to worse on Saturday night as Coach Matt McMahon’s team coughed up an 11 point lead with three minutes to go and lost to Ole Miss 72 to 70. McMahon’s Tigers have lost six straight…
