Edwards admits his gubernatorial terms were a bit controversial, but says he took care of business, even though some may not have liked the way he did it…

Current Governor Bobby Jindal ranked third with 14-percent. But when asked who was the worst governor, 42-percent of respondents picked Jindal. Edwards says this didn’t come as a surprise to him…

The convicted killer who was accidentally released from prison in East Feliciana Parish has been captured in Atlanta. Middle District of Louisiana US Marshal Kevin Harrison says they spoke with Marshals in Georgia after receiving a tip that 32-year-old Benjuiel Johnson was staying in an Atlanta Motel 6.

Harrison says they spoke to a number of people in Iberville Parish and developed leads that Johnson had connections in Georgia.

Harrison says Johnson is awaiting extradition back to Louisiana. He credits the catch to the great efforts of all law enforcement involved.

Louisiana State Police is investigating a triple fatality crash out of Concordia Parish which claimed the lives of three unrestrained people, including two teenagers. Master Trooper Scott Moreau says the crash involved a fully loaded Peterbilt 18 wheeler log truck driven by 28-year-old Mark Gordon of Jonesville…:

Moreau says the log truck crossed into the opposite lane of traffic just as a Dodge pickup, driven by 49-year-old Richard Stewart Jr. of Vidalia, was approaching. He says Stewart Jr. attempted to take evasive action and serve into the shoulder..:

Moreau says the log truck hit the Dodge head on and three of the occupants, including Stewart Jr. and a 15 year old and 17 year old, were not buckled up and died after begin ejected. Charges are pending against Gordon. Moreau says there was also a 51-year-old passenger in the Dodge who was buckled up and sustained moderate injuries…:

The Baton Rouge Police Department has arrested a 19-year-old man after he allegedly accidentally shot his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach. Cpl. Ljean McKneely says Jason Williams claims he was removing a handgun from a dresser when it accidentally discharged, striking his 19-year-old girlfriend who is four months pregnant. McKneely says the victim was rushed to a local hospital…

At last report, the woman is in critical but stable condition and the unborn child’s condition is listed as very critical. McKneely says Williams fled the scene after the shooting…

He says Williams was apprehended when he went to the hospital to check on the woman. McKneely says Williams was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison… (Williams is charged with negligent injuring and Illegal Use of a Weapon.)

The four major candidates for governor say they plan to enjoy some good in state football this weekend. Democrat John Bel Edwards and US Senator David Vitter both say they plan to tailgate at ULM’s home game against Georgia Southern tomorrow before heading to Ruston to catch the game between Louisiana Tech and UL-Lafayette. Republican Scott Angelle says he plans to be in Ruston too. Republican Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne will be in Tiger Stadium as he says he rarely misses an LSU game.

Saints Coach Sean Payton announced today that Quarterback Drew Brees will be the starting QB for the Sunday night Dallas game in the Dome.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s office is trying to find a missing mother who apparently ran out of gas in Maurepas. They say 33-year-old Stacy Renee Baham, who may also use the name Stacy Cook, was reported missing by her father after he found out she’d left her child with a friend then never came back. Her car was found in Maurepas two weeks after she was last seen on August 12th. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.

Authorities say the murderer who was let go from prison in East Feliciana Parish by mistake on September 22nd, was apprehended in Atlanta early this morning. Middle District of Louisiana US Marshal Kevin Harrison says they spoke with a number of people in Johnson’s hometown of Iberville Parish and learned he had connections in Georgia:

Authorities have been looking for 32-year-old Benjuiel Johnson since they found out he was bonded out of prison by mistake last week. Middle District of Louisiana US Marshal Kevin Harrison says they contacted authorities in Georgia after getting a tip that Jonson was at an Atlanta Motel 6…:

A pregnant woman is in critical, but stable condition in Baton Rouge after her boyfriend claimed he accidentally shot her in the stomach Thursday night, according to officials. The Baton Rouge Police Department says 19-year-old Jason Williams is charged with negligent injuring and illegal use of a weapon. They say while the woman may survive, the 4 month old fetus is in very critical condition.

Changes are being made to Louisiana’s food stamp program. The Department of Children and Family Services says, now, able-bodied adults without dependents must work at least 20 hours a week or be enrolled in a federally-approved job training program to qualify for SNAP benefits. Secretary Suzy Sonnier says there are opportunities across the state for recipients to engage in some form of work activity…

Recipients who do not comply with the requirement changes will only receive benefits for three months over a three year period.

A well known Louisiana tradition kicks off this weekend with the start of the 2015 Angola Prison Rodeo. The annual event runs every Sunday in October at the Louisiana State Penitentiary. Warden Burl Cain says this is the only prison rodeo in the United States and if you plan to attend, you should get your tickets in advance…

Authorities say the convicted killer who was let go from prison in East Feliciana Parish by mistake on September 23rd, was apprehended by US Marshals in Georgia early this morning. 32-year-old Benjuiel Johnson was taken into custody at an Atlanta area hotel. Johnson was serving a 40-year sentence after pleading guilty to manslaughter in a 2010 fatal shooting in Iberville Parish when he was mistakenly released. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Louisiana.

The statewide average price for gasoline in Louisiana has seen a slight rise over the week. Could this mean the end to falling prices? Emelie Gunn has more….

State Police say a two vehicle crash in Concordia Parish has killed three Vidalia residents. They 49-year-old Richard Stewart lost control of his truck and and crossed the centerline of the roadway into the path of an 18-wheeler. Despite evasive actions, the vehicles collided. Stewart and two passengers, 17-year-old Vera Stewart and 15-year-old George Stewart, were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash investigation is ongoing.

Although we’ve been told gas prices would drop during the fall, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has gone up a few pennies over the week to $2.03 according to the American Automobile Association. Triple-A Fuel Analyst Don Redman says this slight uptick in the price per gallon is typical during this time of year.

Redman says refineries shutting down for maintenance is putting a little dent in the supply of gasoline.

The Slidell Police Department says they’ve arrested a 14-year-old student from Northshore High School for allegedly bringing an “airsoft” pistol, essentially a BB gun, and knife to school. They say the freshman maintained he was going to get back at other students who rolled his home Wednesday night. The juvenile, who is not being identified, was booked with bringing a dangerous weapon to school and interfering with the educational process.

The man who was serving time on a manslaughter charge but was released by mistake in East Feiliciana Parish last week has been located. Authorities say 32-year-old Benjuiel Johnson was discovered in an Atlanta hotel room last night where he was arrested by US Marshals.

US Marshals arrested 32-year-old Benjuiel Johnson at an Atlanta hotel. Johnson was released from prison by mistake last week in East Feliciana Parish.

The price at the pump has gone up a few pennies over the last week, but experts say we’re not in a for a long stretch of increases. The American Automobile Association says the current statewide average for a gallon of regular is $2.03, up three cents from last week. AAA Fuel analyst Don Redman says refineries are transitioning to winter blend gasoline which is slightly putting a dent in supply…:

Abraham is backing Tech with a box of Ruston peaches, and Boustany is putting up an assortment of Tabasco products on the Cajuns. Also tomorrow McNeese State is at Nicholls and ULM hosts Georgia Southern.

Southeastern Louisiana got a late score last night to pull ahead of Lamar 30-27.

In high school scores Thursday night, Livonia beat Amite 38-26, Marksville shutout Peabody 34-0, it was Jennings over Lark Arthur 68-56 and Natchitoches Central put away Franklin Parish 27-6.

Family and friends are reporting that Southern University Football player Devon Gales is in good spirits and expects to make a full recovery from a neck injury he sustained during the Jaguars game against Georgia last weekend. Doctors said Thursday that Gales will likely need at least a year of physical therapy.
