Two men have been arrested in the case of the 6-year-old child who was fatally shot multiple times when State Police say Marksville City Marshals fired upon the vehicle he was in. And during the game tonight, Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Bel Edwards’ campaign says they will air an ad which targets his Republican challenger, David Vitter, on the US Senator’s prostitution scandal. The Edwards spot compares the Amite state lawmaker’s former military experience with Vitter. It says Edwards “answered our country’s call,” and Vitter they say “answered a prostitute’s call.”

Authorities say the four officers involved in the shooting death of a six-year-old boy in Marksville have been placed on administrative leave. They have also been identified, three of them work for the Marksville City Police Department, and the fourth was a marshal for the Alexandria City Office. State Police continue to investigate why city marshal deputies opened fire on a vehicle, killing six-year-old Jeremy Mardis.

The State Department of Health and Hospitals says over 11-hundred businesses, schools and colleges have received a special designation to show they support healthy living. They are called “Well Spots” and DHH Assistant Secretary JT Lane says that means there’s a conscious effort to help people lead healthier lifestyles…:

Funeral arrangements have been set for the six-year-old boy who died Tuesday night when City Marshals in Marksville shot at his father’s vehicle following a pursuit. Little Jeremy Mardis will be laid to rest Sunday evening in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. State Police Col Mike Edmonson said Thursday that they still hadn’t been able to speak with the City Marshals involved and the investigation is continuing.

The biggest chunk of mud in Louisiana’s gubernatorial runoff, has been slung. A day before early voting, Democrat John Bel Edwards releases an ad accusing Republican David Vitter of answering a prostitute’s call before skipping a vote honoring soldiers. The spot says Edwards answers America’s call having served as a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division.

The Tigers flew out of Baton Rouge today to Alabama in advance of the highly anticipated Tigers Tide game tomorrow night in Tuscaloosa. There are many LSU fans headed to the game but the ones staying home will be packing sports bars. The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is urging Louisiana residents to be prepared for possible severe weather this weekend. The National Weather Service indicates much of the state is under a marginal risk of severe weather as a cold front enters the region. Forecasters are concerned about flooding as this will be at least the third episode of massive rain fall over the last month.
