State Police is honoring at this honor the four people who rendered aid to Trooper Steven Vincent while he was critically wounded during a traffic stop in August. Louisiana Congressmen Ralph Abraham of Alto and Cedric Richmond of New Orleans introduce a bill to Congress seeking to find out ways high school football deaths could be prevented. Abraham says the bill will require the CDC to ask for input from parents, coaches, athletic trainers and other health care professionals to discover new methods to prevent future serious injuries or death…:

Abraham says the bill would not impose any new regulations, it only directs existing federal agencies to study the issue and offer recommendations for solutions.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Bel Edwards says he is going to change the prostitution attack ad on Republican opponent David Vitter, because he received a letter from a veteran’s mother saying she was offended by the image of Arlington National Cemetery in the background. Edwards campaign says they will reissue a new version of the commercial ASAP. Both Edwards and Vitter are set to appear today at the Baton Rouge Press Club.

You knew it was going to be a long day in the Dome when Saints defensive backs Keenan Lewis and Jairus Byrd collided while trying to make an interception and the play turned out to be a long touchdown pass for the Titans.

McNeese State gave football fans in Louisiana something to cheer about this weeknd as they won the Southland Championship by beating Sam Houston State 27-10. Cowboys Quarterback Daniel Sams was named Southland Offensive Player of the Week as he rushed for 164 yards and threw for another 168 yards and he was involved in two touchdown plays.

After losing to the Crimson Tide, LSU is ranked 9th in the latest AP poll. They can still win the SEC West, but the Tigers will have to hope Alabama losses another SEC game and LSU will have to win out. Coach Les Miles believes his team can rebound to finish the season strong…

Authorities continue to investigate the case of the City Marshals in Marksville who are accused in the case of the shooting death of a 6-year-old boy and wounding of of his father. A bail hearing is reportedly underway at this hour for 32-year-old Derrick Stafford and 23-year-old Norris Greenhouse, who each face charges of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder. Little Jeremy Mardis is set to be laid to rest today in Mississippi, while his father, Chris Few remains hospitalized.

Funeral services will be held today in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis. Mardis was fatally shot last week when Marksville City Marshals fired upon the vehicle he was riding in with his father. Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford are charged with second degree murder in the child’s death. Greenhouse and Stafford are scheduled to make their first court appearance today.

Two men working as City Marshals in Marksville were arrested by State Police for their roles in the killing of a 6-year-old child on the night of November 3rd. The investigation into the death of the boy, Jeremy Mardis, and the injuring of his father, Chris Few, who were fired upon inside their vehicle, is ongoing. State Police Col Mike Edmonson says he wants people to focus on the child, Jeremy Mardis…:

Social media was outraged last night over a banner hanging in Alabama which read “Finish what Katrina Atarted” — ahead of the the LSU/Crimson Tide SEC top 10 game tonight. The Alabama University student newspaper, The Crimson White, reports the banner was at an off-campus apartment complex and was quickly taken down.

Early voting for the November 21st runoff election is underway.
